I think the IDF and many other forces within Israel, though they still have very reasonable suspicions about Iran, want a way out and probably never really signed on to this idea. I think there might have been some limited support for the idea of slowing down Iran's nuclear advancements and maybe some more outlandish hopes/dreams that the US would be willing to put boots on the ground, but the reality being what it is, I suspect many Israeli patriots see the limits to hard power and don't want to risk more serious damage.
