Israel Attacks Iran With The Notion That The US Is Going To Jump In And Save Them

I voted 2 because Israel doesn't seem to respect the world or us much. They started a war let them fight it. They're trying to start WWIII? They end up being behind a lot of botched false flags or they'll start sht expecting other countries (like the US) to fight their wars for them. I've heard Israel being referred to as our staunchest and most trusted ally. After 9/11 happened with the Israelis in the van applauding and filming it, I don't agree with that.
 
Israel knows more about what Iran is up to than the general public will know !

NOBODY should have nukes. But for any country to make it so another country can't have them is also not right. Why would Iran be irresponsible in this way? If you have nukes and you nuke, you're going to get nuked 10 times harder by the rest of the world. I think Iran knows that. For other countries to say you can't have them is absurd, especially the USA, who is the only country irresponsible enough to have used them!

Their is only one country that has better intelligence on Iran than Israel, and that is Iran itself. And of course Iran should never get a nuclear weapon.

Is Israel wrong? Not on their intelligence. Their actions? Hell yeah! If you had been told by all your neighbours for 75+ years that you and your extended family should not exists, I think you would either leave, or bite back. I do not blame them, but they are very wrong, very often. Especially in light of what happened to them During WWII. And if in the process they manage to overthrow the ruling party in Iran, well, than that is only good for the rest of the world.

Have you noticed how little critique there is from the Arab world? They too are silently happy that Israel is doing this.

Now whether or not the US is going to help Israel is a completely different story. The US demanded a deal within 60 days. After 61 days Israel attacked. That does not look like coincidence. So I think their was some level of communication and awareness in the US of what was going to happen. Maybe not the full extend. So far Israel seems to be quite successful in achieving their goals, or so it appears. If they are indeed successful and the US can provide the icing on the cake by taking out a few bunkers (I think this is what is being referred to now...), than it would probably wise to do so.

Yeah, I agree that nobody should have nukes, but they do, so that is a given starting point. Is it hypocrite? Should we drop our hypocrisy and allow Iran to have a nuke? Of course not. That would be plain stupid logic.

And than you refer to the US as the only country who was irresponsible enough to have used them. As a pacifist I say that the US did the responsible thing by using the A-bomb on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. The alternative would have been a full scale land invasion. Considering that Japan had just mobilized the ENTIRE population, the US would have lost a lot of people during an invasion. The information Truman based his decision on was 250,000 - 500,000 US casualties and between 5 and 10 million Japanese casualties. And with that I have proven, beyond any doubt, that the US use of the A-bomb was not only justified, but also less horrific than any alternative method would offer.

What makes the bombing of Hiroshima so shocking and horrific are the short timespan in which we have all the casualties. Did you know that during a conventional bombing rate on Tokyo 100,0000 People died in 1 night? Do you think this was the path forward?

And do not think for a second that Japan would have surrendered anyways. It has been very well documented that this is not the case. Even after the Emperor surrendered, there were still people who wanted to kill the Emperor and keep fighting the US.

The mentality in Asia is very different. In Asia I find many people who say you should always fight 'till death. Even if you have already lost.

You made good points in your argument. Well, at least the US is responsible enough to not use them now, but the fact remains - I try to put myself in the others' shoes when assessing these issues and if you were Iranian, you would say the same thing - that it shouldn't be anybody else's decision whether or not you are a nuclear superpower and they'd be right. Who are we to tell them they can't be one. They just want to be able to say they have nukes. Nobody is really going to use them. The minute somebody does, things are not going to matter much anymore anyway.

I'm just trying to look at the other side of the coin. Sometimes when you look at things from a different angle, you see things you failed to see earlier. And I agree that there are probably a lot of Iranians who resent the notion of the rest of the world trying to tell them what to do or not to do. However, since part of the Israeli operations appears to be regime overthrow, I think Israel is counting in part of the fact that a lot of Iranian people resent the government and would support overthrowing the government. And though I have no idea how large this group is, I think you would agree with me that there are not so many supporters of nukes in this group since it would only delay the fall of the regime while rapidly increasing the chances of a disastrous outcome.

Iran has been a thorn in everyone's eyes for many years. Nobody has the right to do something, but everybody would still be happy if somebody has balls. The opposition against Israel has waned over recent years but grown against Iran. Israel has been under threat for many years. This threat includes, but is not limited to, Iran.

Israel has decided to do it alone, not sure if any help will come. They knew of the threat of missiles fired by Iran and they therefore knew that their own people will pay the price too. Yet they proceeded. They must have been very certain about the risks they took, but also about the risk Iran poses to Israel. If not, it seems highly unlikely that they would have taken the risk. This implies highly detailed intelligence. This I think you see confirmed in part by the extremely accurate targeting of individuals in Tehran. And with that we have some severe hypocrisy on display from Israel's hand. Because the tactics used in Palestine and Iran are vastly different. Their capabilities shown in Iran, will likely be used against them in court when they are on trial over what they did in Palestine. The difference in approach is huge. I think they Iranian people will recognize that, and I also think the Israeli government is betting on exactly that.

The resistance to this war is going to be equal to the resistance and political power of the Left in general. In other words, things are not looking great. Israel has coopted most Democrats and all virtually every Republican.
 
Well, Trump may have drastically changed some parts of the GOP, but not their love for war.

I don't think Israel has any need for the US to "jump in and save them". Hell, they are doing very well kicking Iran's butt right now. Why, Israel targeted and killed a slew of Iran's top people...and, when Iran replaced them, Israel killed THOSE people, too.

No, the only thing Israel needs the US for is the use of the bunker buster bombs the US will need to drop on that one big nuclear site that Iran has...the one buried deep under a mountain.

however, if Iran was close to nuke capability .... I mean in truth, they'd likely launch a nuclear attack on Israel if they were ready, Iran is that nasty a nation aren't they ?

Shame there isn't an "other" option as I can see that Trump is considering the good publicity of having American forces bombing Iran now that Israel has done the heavy lifting part.

I don't see any other benefit for the US for getting involved.
As for Iran can't have nukes - why just Iran? North Korea developed nukes and they are actually intent on reaching America with their missiles but there was no similar desire to go jumping in and destroying their capability.

They have two enrichment facilities that they are allows to make reactor grade uranium, I believe 20% U235. Not too long back, they were discovered to be in possessions of I believe 80% U235, which is close to weapons grade. This was a shock when other nations found out they achieved this level of enrichment.

They cannot be allowed to have "The Bomb." They have such a violent and attitude for religeous genocide, that this simply cannot be allowed. Israel has taken the first step, and we most certainly will help them.

I suspect Russia would help too if necessary.
