Islam or Atheism which is more Rational? South Africa | University of Johannesburg

Proponents of the New Atheist movement commonly use scientific discourse to make a case against theism. Richard Dawkins famously positions Darwinian evolution as a replacement for the ‘God Thesis’. New Atheists like A.C Grayling, Christopher Hitchens and others make the case that belief in religion is inhibiting to science.

Moreover, New Atheists claim that science can tell us all we need to know about the world. On this view, reference to a divine being is superfluous. This small book is a refutation of these claims. By referencing the works of Western intellectuals, the author demonstrates decisively how flawed these postulations are. The author is able to show that despite the seemingly forceful and pervasive nature of New Atheist claims in public discourse, the actual success of New Atheists is largely over-rated.

Atheism. That was easy.
Easy and more rational. Perhaps if theists proved their god exists to begin with, then they might be more rational in their position. Or at least more credible.

You really should watch the entire 2 hour and 7 minute video before making your final decision, Gordy. I know I will. Be back later.

Good idea. I had nothing better to do with 2 hrs & 7 minutes of my life. 😉

Islam or Atheism which is more Rational?

There's nothing "rational" about any religion. Faith is the antithesis of reason. It is, in fact, belief without reason.

2 hours and 7 minutes? Can you just tell us if they got into a fist fight?

What "actual success" are these alleged New Atheists being credited with that is over-rated?

Well, let's see.

There isn't a single shred of evidence for the existence of a god, let alone the god of Islam.

So it should be apparent to anyone an iota of common sense that Atheism is more rational.

Please watch and discuss the attached video, then let’s segue into your OP. Thanks in advance:

If you can resist watching a multi Hr video about comparing the rationality of atheism to theism then you are by far more rational than the people producing it.

Thank you. I try. 😁

I am going to read some of the comments on the video for funzies though.

(29) And they say, "There is none but our worldly life, and we will not be resurrected."

(30) If you could but see when they will be made to stand before their Lord. He will say, "Is this not the truth?" They will say, "Yes, by our Lord." He will [then] say, "So taste the punishment for what you used to deny."

(31) Those will have lost who deny the meeting with Allāh, until when the Hour [of resurrection] comes upon them unexpectedly, they will say, "Oh, [how great is] our regret over what we neglected concerning it [i.e., the Hour]," while they bear their burdens [i.e., sins] on their backs. Unquestionably, evil is that which they bear.

(32) And the worldly life is not but amusement and diversion; but the home of the Hereafter is best for those who fear Allāh, so will you not reason?
