No...he didn't say it...but by saying the above about blacks, he IMPLIED that driving in the same suburb while white is NOT a crime. And I seriously doubt that they are "almost certainly" CHARGED with a CRIME even if they were pulled over by a cop. Just MORE Po' black folk bull****.
I have NOTHING to 'own up to'. <<< preposition
I see, it exists but there's no way to quantify it, or prove it's existence. Sounds like your typical modern liberal assertion. It exists because we said so.Having worked in the poor parts of Washington DC, and receiving deferential treatment far above and beyond what I actually earned, I can tell you without any doubt that white privilege exists. It is ingrained in our society. And it is not merely whites with power using their power to benefit one another and not other peoples. It is the expectation that permeates every interaction between people of different ethnicities in this country. It is the lifetime learning by non-whites that when they don't treat whites with deference, consequences follow, and when one wants favors, one gets them by sucking up to whites, not to others.
Anecdotes, no matter how true, do not make data, however. If one wants to see the reality of white privilege, one need only understand that a child born to black parents is five times as likely to grow up in poverty as a child born to white parents. Instrumental to denying the very real privileges and oppressions of race in this country is to insist that these black families have brought it upon themselves, as if anyone with the means to change those kinds of circumstances would fail to do so.
Of course white privilege exists. And racial oppression exists. In often insidious and invisible ways. Overt forms like slavery and Jim Crow are gone, but the attitudes that inform them are often uncomfortably proximate to us.
Depends on where you are, but yes. There's a suburb of Buffalo (which I won't name) where "Driving While Black" is almost certainly a crime.
Actually, its existence has been quantified and proven by extensive research. Whenever your ready to learn more, google is a good place to start looking for information.I see, it exists but there's no way to quantify it, or prove it's existence. Where the hell is this white privilege? I have been a cracker all my life and so far the only thing I have gotten for it was a tan.I see, it exists but there's no way to quantify it, or prove it's existence. Sounds like your typical modern liberal assertion. It exists because we said so.

Hmmm. Well, there are large portions of Los Angeles where "Driving While White" is deadly.
Do the cops pull you over? Or is this typical "I'm so persecuted" stuff?
Is There Such a Thing as "White Privilege"?

I wish.Is There Such a Thing as "White Privilege"?
As Wiki defines it: "White privilege (or white skin privilege) is a term for societal privileges that benefit white people beyond what is commonly experienced by non-white people in the same social, political, or economic circumstances" White privilege - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Could you point out these neighbourhoods to me? I've been living in LA a little while now and I'd sure like to avoid these areas!!
I had to drive through parts of south central a few times and been fine so I'm surprised there are these "large portions" of LA where I am likely to get shot....

I guess you've been fortunate not to drive through those portions of South Central, or East Los Angeles, or Northeast Los Angeles, when your presence wouldn't be appreciated. May I suggest doing so after about 9pm. Good luck!

Asians re a minority. Do those things apply to them as well? Or are they considered white? Or is this whole thing just BS.The thing about White Priviledge is that someone benefits from it so unconsciously that they often ignore it.
It can be the difference between being stopped but let off with a warning vs being stopped and given a ticket.
It can be the difference between getting a job and not getting a job.
It can be the difference between someone not calling the police while you open carry and someone calling the police and lying about your actions while you open carry.
The fact that minorities get harsher sentences for drug related charges and get convictions at higher rates despite not using drugs at a higher rate is proof that such a phenomenon exists.
There can be no doubt here in the United States that there use to be. That started to change in the 1960's with Civil Rights and Voting Rights legislation. Today, I do not think so.
There is skin privilege in America, the darker the skin the more privileges.

I guess so! I just found his claim strange seeing as:
a) the crime rate in south central has sharply decreased recently
b) There is far more black on black crime in LA then black on white crime. In fact a black person is more likely to be a victim of crime then a white person. This is actually true throughout all of america, almost as if there is... a certain privilege to being white.
Yeah, those black neighborhoods are full of rich people. It's amazing how many of them are Fortune 500 CEOs pulling down 7 figure salaries.
I think that there is a certain upswing in your economic start point if you are white. Generally speaking of course.
Privilege is not encoded into law, it's the little things. I haven't crossed the Canadian border in years, but used to do so with relative frequency. One thing we knew for sure was that coming back to the US, being white meant you didn't get hassled at the border. The law wasn't any different, but if you were white you'd get little more than a wave through. Some of that may have changed, but at least as recently as the 90s it was very much true.
You do know the color of the skin of our president don't you? Has there ever been a US president elected with less real qualifications? He was elected because he was black. If a white man ran with his exact resume he wouldn't be elected county commissioner.
