Many people think that Christianity should be our national religion, but we already have one, "GUNS". Yes, guns are what many in this people worship while at the same time their children are being shot sown in their schools and even the churches where they send their children to worship God. I am afraid to say that their real God is the gun and there are even churches in this nation that worship the guns and even take them into their churches. So do not worry about people forcing Christianity on you as long as they have their guns to worship.
Just so you know, I am not a no gun voter. I am for reasonable gun control as Scalia said was possible under our constitution.I think politics in general has become a form of secularized religion and "GUNS" has become a commandment for some, just as "NO GUNS" has become a commandment for others.
The more astute observer identifies a "mental health" crisis, but even this begs the question of *why* people feel compelled to nihilistic mass violence in the first place. We're more acutely aware of mental health then ever and yet our mental health seems to be worsening by almost every metric.
Our secularized religion of politics leads us to believe we can solve all problems through the "prayers" of policy and discourse, but this is one such instance where that clearly isn't the case. There is something about our culture and way of living which is clearly sick and poorly understood and our inclination toward partisan politics seems to only feed the nebulous evil I'm referring to.

People don't worship guns. You're emotional, and the "gun worship" hyperbole is completely understandable. Many people think that Christianity should be our national religion, but we already have one, "GUNS". This is even more hyperbolic. Still understandable. ANY person who would use a gun to harm or kill innocent people is deranged and/or mentally ill, as was Robin Westman - the shooter who killed innocent children in a Catholic school.I am afraid to say that their real God is the gun and there are even churches in this nation that worship the guns and even take them into their churches. Oh, no, they'll go farther. They'll get rid of any existing funding for mental health treatment by calling it "fraud and waste", then run their mouths about how holy and godly they are.Guns are a symptom of this Conservative desire for no change at all. One small part of it. You can write the script now for the next school shooting. It is always exactly the same. Somebody shoots up a school. kids die. The Conservatives send thoughts and prayers. They denounce the mental health problems that the shooter must have had. They won't actually sign on to any changes that might make it possible to stop something from happening in the future. Because, that would be a change. Change is the enemy. People who want change are the enemy.
