You could very well be Albert Einstein, but the beauty about the genius of Albert Einstein is that his thought experiments- like the man in the elevator- is within the comprehension of even folks with down syndrome. Galileo as well, his ship experiment being similar.

Is there any reason why you introduced to me concepts you appear not prepared to defend?

1. I live in the amazon forest and have not been exposed to your civilisation. My observations and conclusions cannot be dependent on that of a civilisation I am not exposed to; anymore than yours can be held dependent on that of some extra terrestrial civilisation you have never been exposed to
 

The earth is flat because of your ignorance. The earth is flat because of imaginary scenarios that do not involve you, but people elsewhere being ignorant. Those are your final arguments.

False. My conception of the earth, based on my observations, is flat. What the earth is is not a function of my ignorance or what ever brilliance you attribute to yourself

For a supposedely brilliant your formulations are problematic. I did not say the earth is flat or spherical because of this or that. I said my observations lead me to conclude a flat earth.. This is not complicated stuff. Observations by others led them to conclude a geocentric universe; that of others to a heliocentric universe
 

This is a very long winded way to say that today you went outside, the earth looked flat, thus you concluded that it was.

Having sailed the seven seas and watched ships slowly "sink" beneath the horizon, I can personally tell you that the Earth is not flat.

For example, if you get a certain distance from an aircraft carrier, the flight deck can be perfectly aligned with the horizon, making it appear through binoculars as though its planes are landing on and taking off from the water. Get a few more miles away and even the carrier's island slips below the horizon. This is only possible if the Earth has at least some curvature to it.

Amazing! You see? You can agree with people! Exactly the point I tried to make. Even people with down syndrome understand. Yet, you do not. Thanks for this. Makes it a good way to end this.

Hi Jane,

I clearly remember the first time I saw this from a plane over the Atlantic (surprised it's not called American Ocean yet. lol) Amazing view. But picture always bring new context. And I must say I am surprised to see how clearly you can see the curvature of earth on the first picture, because that was obviously not taken from cruise speed altitude at 10km high or so. I always find it difficult to estimate height like this, but it looks like the plane is on approach and is no higher than 1 to 2 km, yet you can clearly see the rounding on the horizon.
