Is the country moving in the wrong direction?

Is the country moving in the wrong direction?

Replacing a Constitutional Republic with an autocracy is the definition of wrong direction.

The country has been moving in the wrong direction for over 40 years.
In that time period, the middle class has been decimated. Small towns all over the country have been wiped out as manufacturing has all went to Mexico and China.
Home ownership has fallen, while home prices have skyrocketed well above wages.
College tuition has risen outrageously, putting our young in 5 and 6 figure debt to start their lives out - because the government did nothing about the ever rising, unexplainable reason why tuition was raising so much - and just threw money at children who had no idea or concept of the damage this would do to them.
Wage stagnation occurred at the same time the investor class went from being $millionaires to $billionaires to soon to be = $trillionaires.

IN THAT SAME TIME PERIOD -- There has been 8 different Presidents. 4 Democrat and 4 Republican. Democrats have controlled the houses in that timeframe, and Republicans have also.

The political parties are not the problem.
I don't understand this take at all.

In this century, Americans have enjoyed over twice the real income growth of Europeans, and 50% greater real income growth than Canadians. While home prices have gone up, we have the cheapest housing prices vs incomes of any rich country on earth.

In 1995, the average tuition for a 4 year public university was 12,200 a year which is 25,500 today. Today is right at 30,000. It has certainly gone up, but inflation adjusted dollars, instate tuition is 15% more today than it was 30 years ago.

Average disposable income is higher today than ever before: https://fred.stlouisfed.org/series/DSPIC96

Americans travel more than ever before. Americans enjoy a higher standard of living than anyone in the history of civilization. We have our problems in America, but compared to virtually any other nation on earth, our problems are not as bad. If you think housing is expensive here, go to the wealthy countries in East Asia, Europe, or our neighbor to the north, Canada. If you think small towns have been wiped here, take a trip to China, its much worse. For that matter, just look at Western Europe. The economic transition from small towns to cities is not a uniquely American phenomena, it has happened everywhere.

We have a trade deficit in goods, but a massive trade surplus in services (which pay more).

And they convinced people that the Media was "liberal" by repeating that Big Lie over and over and over and over.

****ing brilliant!
It is not liberal or conservative.
It is Republican and Democrat.
The Democrats won that game. In a big way. Still to today. The top 7 media companies - 6 are overwhelmingly Democrat Party friendly, while only one is Republican friendly.
The Republicans took radio, but that was no big win. And nobody won the Newspapers - most no longer exist, and those that still do are a mere shadow of what they once were.
Neither are liberal or conservative.
You are absolutely correct - the media doesn't even come close to what liberalism is. Not even close. And Fox News is sure as hell not conservative.

Now that republicans control all branches of government, cutting our resources to fund an authoritarian police state, republican voters say the country is moving in the wrong direction.

Do you agree?
You don't have control of all branches of government unless you have 60 votes in the Senate but you knew that.

Yes. It should be obvious to anyone rational that we are heading in the wrong direction.

We appear to be living a real life version of the movie “Idiocracy”.

It’s not at all funny though.

Hi AbsentGlare,

Let me think...

- Quality of education is declining.
- Freedom of Speech is declining.
- Violence is on the rise.
- The gap between rich and poor is widening.
- Quality of public transport is declining.
- Social benefits are declining.
- No other country spends as much on healthcare as the US, yet the life expectancy is considerably lower than most other western countries.

Do you want me to continue?

And you're asking if the country is in decline?

Joey

Sounds like the middle class needs to work harder? Surely "wage stagnation" simply reflects a stagnation of effort.

In America, what you get is a direct result of what effort you put in.
It is ridiculous and pure ignorance to say that economic inequality even exist as this person describes it, It does not.
What does exist is some people have more than others because they work harder.
And some people have less because they refuse to work hard - or even at all.

No
Two things can be true at the same time, if you are smart enough to put those two quotes together to form a seemingly retort, then you are also intelligent enough to know this to.

I don't really know how lamentations that "Wage stagnation occurred at the same time the investor class went from being $millionaires to $billionaires to soon to be = $trillionaires" coexist with a belief that inequality doesn't exist and instead "some people have more than others because they work harder."

But I'm all ears.

So stopping Government Corruption, saving 100's of BILLION in waste & Fraud, getting fair trade with other countries, sending >400,000 violent Criminals ILLEGAL INVADERS out of our country. securing the Boarders, having the lowest inflation since biden was installed, having a strong economy, and bringing law and order to the lawless DEM's States is what "YOU" call/see as
"Moving in the Wrong direction" ?????.......

Maybe you are just gaslighted and aren't capable of making an informed decision ?

Now if you want to talk about how the DEM's are doing NOTHING for our Country, and just trying to stop Trump from doing good things for America and how much chaos that is creating then that would be something worth mentioning.

Because they are both true.
Particularly today.
If a person works harder, OBVIOUSLY they are more likely to get promoted/raises/better opportunities than someone who just does enough not to get fired. - TRUE

The investor class has corrupted the government, has changed the entire financial system that virtually guarantees them wealth no matter what happens - and had regulations passed that again, pretty much guarantees their companies will succeed - while making it impossible for others to compete with them. - ALSO TRUE.

Both conditions exist at the same time.

Democrats use money to get power;
Republicans use power to get money.
The ideology of the democrats drives their donor activity.
The donor activity drives the republican ideology.

And neither party gives a shit about the public.
Trump only cares about exploiting the public's primitive fears, ignorance, superstition, bigotry, paranoia, and misunderstandings- for personal power. And goodness knows there is a lot of all that in the American public.

Does the farming sector know all that?

Does the tech sector know all that?

Does the healthcare sector know all that?

Does the job market know all that?

We're moving towards a military fascist state with no freedom. Corruption out the wazoo with the Whitehouse spending millions of dollars on a ballroom and accepting luxury aircrafts from foreign governments.
