I didn't vote for him because of his color, nor did anyone else I know who voted for him. I voted for him because the speeches he gave sounded much like the speeches my favorite president gave (that would be Ike). That and McCain is a flat-out crook. Unfortunately, his speeches did not inform the way he governed.
the point is if Cain wsa Obama and a liberal, his affairs etc would ahve been off limits and covered up... I think thats the OPs point..that since Obama was a radical liberal and FIRST, he was treated as a deity...
I think the 2008 election was clearly going Democrat no matter who the nominee was but it's hard for me to come up with any real arguments as to why then-Sen. Obama distinguished himself from the group, aside from race. He certainly didn't have a resume comparable to his opponents.
Obama is half white.
Thread fail!!!!!!
No. He is not the last black president we will see.
No. This is not the last doofy thread we will see at DP.
Unfortunately, his speeches did not inform the way he governed.
He was a better campaigner. His race might've played a part in the primaries, but Obama ran a much better primary campaign than Hillary Clinton did.

C'mon, now.
A guy who no one had ever really heard of who had virtually no accomplishments to his name beat out some of the biggest names in politics ... because he was a better campaigner?
Doesn't that sound silly when it's said out loud?
No. Obama was one of the most well known Democrats after his speech at the 2004 convention. He had a huge power base in Chicago and a number of early important endorsements. Now those endorsements might've come because he was black, I don't know, but he used all of that very effectively to take down Clinton.
No he wasn't.
It's one thing if you want to say you personally felt he was the best candidate available after reading up on his limited career but it's just simply not true that he was one of the most well known Democrats four years before he himself won the nomination.
That's one of the most ridiculous things I've read lately. It's people like you that lend credence to the idea that a portion of the opposition to Obama's administration is from racism.
He wasn't as well known as John Edwards or Hillary Clinton, but he wasn't as anonymous as Joe Biden or Bill Richardson either. And since 2004 he was looked at as a possible 2008 presidential candidate.
I believe Obama will be the last Black POTUS we'll see in our lifetimes.
Why?
Because of the way he 'slipped' into office. Because of what he has done and not done in office. Because of how his campaign has behaved in this re-election bid. And because of how his administration and re-election campaign has divided this nation.
So, bottom line, enjoy it while you have it, Obama fans.
He's the last African American that White voters will take a chance on for a loooooong time.
It's just such a foolish statement I don't even know why you continue to defend it.
I mean, really, how popular could anyone be based off a single speech they made 4 years prior?
After the voters really get a good look at the damage he and his candidacy and administration have done to this country and the fallout that will come from his "rule" you will not see another Black POTUS in your lifetime.
This post does not deserve an intelligent answer.
Like a said....a seriously flawed premise. Does that mean that we won't see another white male elected after the mess that GWB left this country in?

Oh, so you shouldn't be held to account for the part you played in electing him?
Gotcha.
I'll bet you can formulate one if you think long and hard enough.
How is it valid. First off, you state info as "facts" that are based in fiction.Second, even if you accept your "facts" as true, your "theory" is flawed because why would GWB driving this country to the brink of economic and moral bankruptcy not have the same or greater effect on the ability of white males to get elected if you accept your theory? No. But, your inability to see the validity of the thread premise is kind of endearing in it's naivete.
