Is it really a miracle?

Every so often a christian will start a thread about miracles being proof of god. Where as I have always stated that miracles are merely a word used to point out something that was thought improbable, happened.

So I will put this to our christians here. Is this really a miracle? Did god intervene in a cricket match to assure the victory of new zealand over england by one run after losing all the other tests in the series.

We have wars and famine and pain all over the place. Yet god takes time out to watch cricket, really?
 
Just be thankful you don't have to be God and decide all the cricket matches.

The Universe rubs our nose that a loser can win (for hiring Trump)(for the Patriots losing the Super Bowl).
 
There is divine will and GOD's permissive will. Divine will is what GOD wants and expects and demands to occur/happen. Permissive will is what GOD allows to occur as it doesn't affect GOD's divine will. Anything that would stand in the way of the birth of CHRIST would not be acceptable. But whether one team wins or loses really depends on their GOD given abilities and their attitude. Did GOD sink the TITANIC or was it an attitude that the ship was unlikely to sink on its maiden voyage the key to disregarding appropriate measures. The life of some is full of IF ONLYs. While in the case of others it's THANKS BE TO GOD!

Why would god want, demand, or expect anything? None of those are concepts that would apply to an omniscient being.
 
No, I'd say your game had the False Prophet on it, too bad I wasn't watching.

Your anomaly, was not caused by God but by a god.

I don't know any of them. I'm pretty sure all the ones we know about were just made up.

I'm just trying to help people shore up their stories.

If your god is omniscient, then they can't want or demand anything.
 
The catholic church has a very rigorous standard for declaring a healing a miracle (divine intervention).

  • Attributable to divine power: One of the most important requirements for an act to be considered a Catholic miracle is if it can be directly contributed to divine power, as God is the only one who can be the cause behind a miracle. Any incident that may have stemmed from created causes, such as nature or man, cannot be considered a miracle. While these effects may be beneficial and marvelous, the Church does not qualify them as miraculous.
  • Beyond the abilities of nature: Another important aspect to consider is if the effect is beyond nature’s capabilities. First, a miracle surpasses created powers in the produced effect. While nature creates life in humans, it cannot do this in somebody who is no longer alive. Additionally, the subject rather than the effect defines the miracle. While God can cause an effect that nature can produce, He does so in a way nature does not. While it is natural for a fever to pass, it can be miraculous if it leaves by command or prayer.
  • Beyond nature’s order: A miracle must be God’s direct work and beyond all created powers.
  • Seemingly extraordinary: A miraculous event is extraordinary, meaning it is contrary to the ordinary course of events. While the creation of human life is awe-inspiring, God decrees that creating life is part of the normal course of events.
  • The ability to sense: Finally, a miracle will need to be perceptible by the senses. Miracles are meant to prove God’s revelation and must be marked with a divine character that can be sensed, and even those ignorant will realize its authenticity.
To be declared a miracle it must be documented and certified to be an ailment for which there is no cure. They don't declare a healing a miracle if the condition returns. They have declared instances of spontaneous healing a miracle, they have declared many more not miraculous.
 
See, God never does anything Himself, He only does what his devotee is doing, He is only the material energy itself, neutrons and protons etc. To have a miracle requires an adept or angel.
 
There is no objective evidence for miracles. That's just baseless feel good religious nonsense.
