Intolerance of poverty and oppression created "Western Civilization" which resulted from a unification of european cultures, philosophies, christian values, political and economical ideologies and genes, resulting in the creation of one unique society based on individuality, cooperation and a love of freedom which brought about the formation of a unique political/economical system of unprecedented wealth and opportunity for those who were a part of it.
No, that's tolerance.
No it's not. Tolerance is only a part of the equation.
So then the people who use that word that way are lying? The people answering the poll are lying too? and the people posting in this thread?
This thread has become just as pointless and ridiculous as a debate about ideology. Nothing but conflicting definitions, leading nowhere anyway.
It is leading somewhere...
Nowhere land?
See, you're still not answering my question.
It's made know that intolerance is not 100% wrong or right.
And when you say it's wrong to be intolerant of homosexuality, you're biased.
Intolerant of homosexuals is a pure case of bigotry and/or homophobia.
Only a Sith deals in absolutes.
To be honest, that's an absolute statement.
The poll doesn't require an absolute answer. Read the options. It's difficult to answer such general questions like this, especially when morality is a key factor.
I think people should be respectful of each other when it comes to sexual orientation, race, etc. There are still things which society should deem "intolerant," though. Namely actions that break the law, cause harm to others and things of that nature. The ubiquitous nature of the question is what makes it so difficult/impossible to come up with an absolute answer.
The poll doesn't require an absolute answer. Read the options.
This is a simple question:
Is intolerance wrong?
The question arises because people have a tendency to connote intolerance with something negative.
