A xhange is needed. That cannot be denied.
But is Burnham the answer ?
It couldnt get worse. But he just seems to be a nu labour identikit to me.
Apart from the basic problems he faces.
First he needs a friendly MP to stand dowm Then if je gets to tje hoise he needs 80 MPs to nominate him. Starmer has already purged the most likeely ones so that might be tough.
It looks like a big ask. And im not sure it will be worth it.
Id prefer him but is that much better ?

At least as mayor of Manchester he has practical political management skills and isn't a pusillanimous southern softie like Starmer.

Isn't that the charge being laid at Starmer? That he's not left wing enough?

Anyhow, sounds like a whole load of Labour MPs don't like Burnham's positioning to take on Starmer.

Greater Manchester Mayor Andy Burnham is facing a backlash from dozens of
Labour MPs over suggestions he could mount a challenge to Prime Minister
Sir Keir Starmer's leadership.

Burnham has criticised the Labour government in a series of interviews, and says
he has been contacted by Labour MPs urging him to stand.

One thing though is that it seems all the leaders (except Badenoch) are looking at Reform as their biggest threat in 4 years time. Ed Davey has separately said it's the Lib Dem's moral duty to defeat Reform while Burnham is talking about the Labour Party having a debate around the issues that have seen the rise in Reform.
