So for the last 5 years we have heard no new ideas from the GOP other than the fact they hate Obama and are against everything he does. That is not being pragmatic and makes the GOP look like the party of no with no ideas of there own. What ever happened to right wing ideas like the contract with America. I knew it was BS but it showed they where serous and has some new ideas. This modern GOP has no ideas other that cutting the tax rate for the rich and repealing the ACA. You are going to have to do better that that my right wing friends. What is it?

So you haven't figured out that both the R's and the D's are basically the same party eh? Both only care about their own power, not the people or the country. And BTW, if you haven't heard of them 'has some new ideas', you are either being incredibly dishonest, or ignorant. I'd go with the former based on what I've seen.

Hey JD. I heard the GOP is not wanting to steal the spotlight, so they are waiting on the party that holds majority control of the Federal Government to present their ideas first. Since the Dems have the Senate and the Exec. Branch, along with control of the various mega regulatory agencies, I'm sure their plans will be something to see.

Any idea when to expect a quick overview?

Chris Christie. I might not have such a great insight into US politics as you have, but to me he is the man most likely to create a new image for the republican party. He knows how to negotiate and compromise and doesnt just follow an official party line like some soviet bureaucrat.

If I had the right to vote in your country in 2016, and the choice would be between Hillary Clinton and Chris Christi, I would vote for him.

Christie is a shoe-in with the number of TEA-partiers running and splitting the vote..
Watch the "Green papers" to see how each state changes its primary system..

Some primaries are open, some are closed for the party, some are modified--meaning independents can choose either..

As for apportionment, some are winner-take-all, but more are split and the system is fairly complicated..
Only Christie has the "ground game" to do as Romney easily did..

If a Democrat is elected in 2016, the GOP House will give us a repeat of 2011-2017..
As a Dem., I must admit that Christie would be better for the Nation due to our House .

Just wondering when the first draft of the GOP Health care alternative will go to committee..
Not to mention their own Farm bill they pulled months ago, after plucking the low-hanging fruit of food stamps..
Or the Transportation bill that the GOP can't agree with among themselves .

I would suggest that since you obviously have internet access, that you look at the GOP web sites to see that they do have ideas and multiple plans to address the problems that exist. Whether you or I agree with the proposals may be another discussion to have, but to claim that they have no plans or ideas whatsoever is genuinely dishonest on your part.

And by the way, the Democrats have been in power with control of the Senate, White House and the entire Executive Branch for over five years now... how have their ideas worked out even with the President circumventing the Legislative Branch by issuing Executive Orders? :doh

Chris Christie is a democrat. Not officially, but his policies more closely align with that party than the R's. And it he is good at following the D party line. BTW, there would be no difference between Christie and Clinton, again showing how the two parties are more similar than different.

My guess is with so much passed legislation over on the other side of the building, they didn't want Sen. Reid and other members of his majority to get bogged down on even more legislation to consider.

When do you think Sen. Reid will be able to get that done?

As soon as the House can pass a "clean" bill..
For now, I'd settle for a Farm bill, so would the Farmers, not the Multi-Natuonal Farms, they've got their tax breaks already .

First, let's just correct a few little misconceptions and misstatements you've made here. The GOP doesn't hate Obama. The GOP is not against everything he does. The GOP has ideas that are their own - just check with Harry Reid where they're all stacked up under his desk. The Contract with American was as much BS as Bill Clinton's "the era of big government is over" was. Other than that, you may have hit on something.

what, you want a re-play of proposals such as privatizing social security? no thanks
one of the few good things about having two groups of extremists in government is that they cancel each other out, preventing the passage of ****ty legislation
so, they serve their purpose, just not as they had intended

A "clean" bill? Well, that's an interesting excuse that continues to have little relevance.

The Farm Bill is a complicated bit of doing isn't it? For example, I'd like to see an end to all subsidies for bio-fuel associated crops. What a waste, and what a complete payola scheme. Of course, with the money involved, that will never happen.

Obviously with a Senate overlorded by someone uninterested in Congressional process, it doesn't matter what the House does.

foolish to insist that "it doesn't matter what the House does"
sure it matters, otherwise, why even have a house
i'm guessing they quit teaching civics in school if this is the kind of responses we get to the question being asked

Well, I suppose context is a concept some schools failed to outline to those attending. At least your post makes this clear.

Probably best to consider such before eating foot.

When it comes to legislation put forward by the House, it's clear Sen. Reid is going to ignore Congressional process, and leave such legislation stacked in the corner.

It that sense, "it doesn't matter what the House does".

Dang, slammed your face into the door frame again, didn't you?

yes, that incisive analysis of our political system was devastating

I'm all about preventing the passage of ****ty legislation, but do it by having the other side vote on it and kill it. This whole thing of either the house or the senate passing a bill and then have it sit on the other side's desk without allowing a vote on it is idiotic.

Suppression by disallowing votes to happen on a bill that passed either the senate or the house should be criminal IMO.

Boehner openly prided himself on passing as few bills as he could, his words..That would be his greatest success story..Now Cantor refusing to go to conference 18 times through August as Mr. False-Equivalency gets my worst GOP NcCarthyite award..Then there's Ryan saying he got 70% of what he wanted

Ok. Well, on my hit parade for '13 is the Reid Senate ranking among all the preceeding Congresses. Historic, and the only real measure worth remembering.

that makes no sense
where does he compare and what is your benchmark used to so rank his (in)actions

From what I read, he compares very poorly. As to benchmark, it wasn't mine to set. That was set by who ever it is that makes the comparisons and comes up with the rankings.

I'm sure when you google it, you can find the answers to your questions. If I recall correctly, the results have been known for some time.

As your memory fades on another year of record-Setting filibusters..Now the GOP of NO might give back some low-hanging fruit plucked like unemployment if the Senate GOP is allowed to go back to preventing the filling of judgeships and cabinet positions.."CLEAN"

then you have nothing to use as a barometer to measure his action/inaction
excepting very biased opinion

Memory sharp as ever. Thanks for the concern though.
