Iranians Protest Outside of British Embassy

Hundreds of Iranian students crowded outside the British Embassy in Tehran on Sunday, setting off firecrackers and hurling projectiles toward the compound, an embassy spokesman said.

Are you freaking kidding me? The Iranians take British hostages and then they protest outside the British embassy? What 15 hostages wasn't enough? The more I read about people in this part of the world, the crazier they seem to be getting.

Why are hostages necessary at all? The government of Iran is like a big ole GEICO caveman commercial without the humor. It's run by religious fundalmentalists. I fail so see the advantage to any freedom loving country to take their side.

This kind of stuff just makes me love Iran so much more.

It was on the news over here : they were chanting "Death to England, Death to America" I almost went ballistic on the T.V. set. Wtf did we do?

There's a lot history between America, the UK and Iran. From the Angelo-Iranian Oil Company way back when, to the UK supported and American aided coup to oust Prime Minister Mohammad Mosaddeq, who was frequently at odds with the Shah.

The intervening years has seen flagrant hostility on both sides, to diplomatic overtures, from both sides again, to downright coddling of Iran's acts of war. Iran aided in Afghanistan in the early part of that war, yet out of the other side of it's mouth it's fed Hezbollah (it's own creation) and all of the acts of terrorism that come from them.

Neither side will trust the other. America is literally surrounding Iran and Iran is reacting.

What do you think the Coast Guard does when it spots boats leaving Cuba?

If they were in Iranian waters...

And maybe they get crazy because of all the bombs we drop in that area.

The Coast guard returns them to their country of origin.
The Coast Guard act as a search and rescue operation.
The Coast Guard provide refuge if they claim asylum.
The Coast Guard MEDIVACs them to the nearest appropriate medical facility if they are in need of urgent medical care.
The Coast Guard provides "nutritious food that can be easily stored and quickly prepared. Rice, beans, water, breads and small amount of fruits or vegetable may be provided to feed migrants during the several days they are aboard a cutter. They also carry infant formula, diapers and other hygiene products for embarked migrants. Consideration must be given to the fact that some migrants may be malnourished and foods must be kept simple to prevent adverse reactions."


Coast Guard Office of Law Enforcement


The Coast Guard does not take hostages.
The Coast Guard does not fund terrorist activity on a local and global scale.
The Coast Guard is not feverishly attempting to develop nuclear weapons.
The Coast Guard does not persecute women.

I don't know if they were in Iranian waters. I do know that if we detained soldiers from Cuba that had wandered a mile into US waters that there wouldn't be hundreds of Americans throwing rocks at the Cuban embassy and chanting death to China.

What exactly are they protesting??

Maybe they are pissed off we haven't bombed them, and given them an excuse to appeal to the United Nations for help against the "Great Satan".

Funny and true.

The way I see it, Iran has to either implode or explode. Either, out of the instinct for self-preservation, they have to take it to their own streets and have a bloody revolution for change.

Or, we're gonna have to take it to them.

But, the propaganda machine is fighting hard on both sides to convince us all "who was in who's water" when the event took place. It does not help the British cause when their very own sailors, all 15 at last count, (or so we're told) have conceeded that they were inadvertantly in Iranian waters and they humbly apologized for their mistake. The worst part is, the British chaps are so pleasant and calm when they make such claims on TV. They do not look beaten or deprived. They are quite convincing actually.

Then the British are just as convinced there is NO WAY it could have been possible and they have GPS records to prove it. Period. End of discussion. No apology from the Crown. They are very convincing as well.

Would it matter where they were actually detained/taken hostage? (pick one.) If it is proven they were in Iranian waterways, should the British apologize? What proof would it take? Would Iran apologize if it could be proven they were taken in Iraqi waters?

Even if both sides agreed at what GPS point the sailors were captured, would everyone agree as to who actually owned that piece of water? Iran or Iraq?

What is certain is this. Iran needs to turn the sailors loose, in good condition NOW! If they want to debate right or wrong they are going to lose. They are staring down the barrels of many cannons right now.

Yes, they could probably still swim around, bacteria style in their little puddles. Theyd still manage to protest at something though, no doubt. Probably take some other bacteria hostage as well, to prove a point.....
