"An Iranian mother detained by US Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers has been released this week following advocacy from Republican House Majority Leader Steve Scalise.

Mandonna “Donna” Kashanian, 64, was detained by ICE officers last month as she gardened in the yard of her New Orleans home. She had been living in the United States for 47 years and her husband and daughter are both US citizens."

I applaud the government's decision to free this woman, but should it come only due the the influence of a powerful Congressman? Why not apply it all of those who mirror her situation? Seems like a double standard.

There are no standards.

In this instance, after reading the details, I agree with you.

It is remarkable how effectively they have cultivated hatred towards immigrants. They are, of course, a time honored target of demagogues, but I had hoped we were better than that.
We weren't too good to reelect Trump.

“When she was picked up, we looked at it and said, ‘Are they really looking at it the right way, objectively?’” Mr Scalise told WDSU. “And so they took a second look at it.”

Wow, applying common sense. Groundbreaking.

Because Trump's only real concern is adulation and attention. His obsession with wealth and power stem from that.

Otherwise idiocy and chaos dominate his administration, which is partly how he earned the moniker "Taco."

When I opened this thread I expected her to be the politician's cook or house cleaner or nanny.
