Fortunately, nobody has to since he's not the president of Iran anymore.
Id expect no less from a leftist.
News from The Associated Press
Does anyone else think this is not a great idea? Sort of like waving red meat in front of a pit-bull.

Whos a better nation, the US or Iran?
Patronizing! Depends, nationalists all think they've the better nation.
This question is like kryptonite to leftists. Its highly sensitive and specific to liberalism.
Thanks.
America is superior to other nations in some things and inferior in others. The question all together is really stupid. Wikipedia has documented how both countries have used terrorist groups to advance their agendas. Why you want to remain in the dark on that is very strange. Other than you just want to be a cheer leader.
Answer the question-which country is better-the US or Iran.
As for the rest of your jibberish-dont tell me what those articles said-I read them. One-is filled with specific attacks against civilians around the world for decades-the real terrorists. The other, states that the US was one supplier of arms to an asian nation that later may have used some of those weapons for terror.
-This isnt equivalent, moral or otherwise.
-You appear to mock with claims of patriotism/nationalism
-You decline to state your political lean
You are a liberal, was that really so hard to admit?

[Commentary] - baltimoresun.comBetween 1946 and 1974, the economy grew faster than it has grown since, on average, because the nation was creating the largest middle class in history. The overall size of the economy doubled, as did the earnings of almost everyone. CEOs rarely took home more than 40 times the average worker's wage, yet they were riding high.
Third, higher taxes on the wealthy to finance public investments -- better roads, bridges, public transportation and basic research, plus world-class K-12 education and affordable higher education -- improve the future productivity of America. All of us gain from these investments, including the wealthy.
In those years, the top marginal income tax rate on America's highest earners never fell below 70 percent. Under Republican President Dwight Eisenhower, the top marginal rate was 91 percent. Combined with tax revenues from a growing middle class, it was enough to build the interstate highway system, dramatically expand public higher education and make American public education the envy of the world.

When you live and travel abroad, you gain perspective on the world. One of the most drastic shifts is the sudden epiphany that America is both the worst country in the world and the greatest. For me, that was living in Europe. I honestly hate America: the people are prudish, arrogant, uptight and fantastically dumb. Yet I still love America: we're innovative, welcoming, freedom-loving and are a passionate and principled nation. I sorely miss my Germans in the beergarten overlooking the Rhein, but I'd miss the hustle and bustle of Chicago too.Answer the question-which country is better-the US or Iran.

Humanity's downfall is the people who don't have or refuse this experience. These are the people who wish to squash the world into a simplistic us-vs-them box. That the "enemy" is all bad, and that "we" are all good. The world does not exist like that except in your imagination. Iranians are honest and wonderful people, who share the same hopes and dreams that we Americans do. Iranians care for their families, their careers and all of life's pleasures. There's not much that separates the Iranian people from the American people in both success and failure.

I confess that I have not read this thread and have no clue what anybody else has said.
But my first instinct is that would it be a really bad thing if Iran actually fired a shell or something--poorly aimed of course--onto U.S. soil. That would give us full right, righteous justification, and reason to:
1. Destroy or confiscate the ship.
2. Take out Iran's nuclear capability.
But does anybody really think Iran is dumb enough to do that?

We do not stand for the jihadists that wish to bring war and destruction; nor do we stand for the Americans that wish to either.
No! Iran will NOT be doing that. But countries have been falsely accused before, as pretext for war.
It's still the people that suffer when action is taken due to irresponsible rhetoric. This really has more to do with the Iranian government rather than the people IMO. There is no doubt that Iran is run by religious extremist mullahs. There is evidence that Iran sponsors and has sponsored well-known terrorist groups. When you live and travel abroad, you gain perspective on the world. Let's say Rick Santorum by some miracle gets elected to office ... ?
We'd be two countries lead by religious extremists who pray to the invisible God above on how to direct their respective militaries; and I sorely hope that the rest of the world would be both careful and rational when it came to dealing with either of us.Is Rick Santorum running for office?Regardless if he was, that is why WE have a constitution and procedures that must be followed.
I don't see what that has to do with Iran sending warships though.

Of course, it's doubtful, but one can never say never. That is just being naive.
