India Covid crisis: Hospitals buckle under record surge​


Well this is horrible, India's healthcare system is crumbling. This is what happens if social distancing and mask mandates are ignored. I hope there's light in the end of the tunnel. Some times you have to remember that things that hits a rich country with a well funded health care system bad, will hit some other countries ten timed worse.

The reason why we need to think globally about vaccines. New variants are evolving there right now.
 
The variant in India must be a strong one, considering that India while hit hard before it is nothing like what is going on now

I thought that for months we were seeing next to no Covid cases or deaths coming out of India. All of a sudden they decided to take an accurate count? India is a vastly overcrowded and poverty stricken nation, that likely has a lot to do with it.

We can see how COVID is a vastly different problem in poor areas with high population densities and undermanned/underfunded healthcare systems.

Those of us in the first world benefit from our governments power to procure vaccine supplies for ourselves.

Mainly the racial nationalism both were espousing. Secondarily it is the desire to engage in political suppression of their opposition.
