But don't worry farmers, the Trump's are grifting billions.



"China has been boycotting purchases of U.S. soybeans since late May to show displeasure with President Trump’s imposition of tariffs on imports from China. The pain is being felt in Midwest states, especially Illinois, Iowa, Minnesota and Indiana. For the first time in many years, American farmers are preparing to harvest their crop this fall with no purchase orders from China."

We have been through this before and Trump just gives my tax dollars to giant farms to compensate.

Oh how I wish we had the old USA back.
 
Trump may or may not subsidize the soybean farmers this time. Even if he says he will, he may not.

Brazil will be happy to sell China their soybeans. Especially since Trump has slapped a 50% tariff on them.

China is busy building trade relationships that will take many years, maybe decades to dismantle. Meanwhile the world has no idea what our trade policies are or will be tomorrow.
 
Brazil's soybean business is going to go through the roof over the next decade.

Too late. Apparently, there is no lethal dose of hypocrisy.

 
In 2024 China bought about $12 billion dollars worth of soybeans from US farmers.
You can bet that will be drastically reduced as China increases the buying of soybeans from Brazil and Argentina.
And who bears the brunt of that? US farmers and the numerous small towns across Illinois, Minnesota, Iowa, and Indiana where most of the US soybeans are grown.

I have a hard time picturing hard working farmers being happy on the dole.

Sad part, we are also having to suffer the consequences of their vote. I don't feel sorry for anyone who voted for Trump, tell your horror stories to each other.

I guess having our former Senator J. D. Vance, Thiel's tech-boy, as trump's Vice-President hasn't helped us much....
 
It's hard to have much sympathy for rural communities that strongly supported Trump. They knew from his first term what would happen with Trumps tariffs and arrogant attitude. I guess they maybe just expected tax payers to bail them out again like last time. So they voted for Trump to hurt others, and now get upset that they themselves are being hurt. Hard to empathise with that attitude.

I fully expect Trump to once again throw $billions of tax payer monies at farmers before the mid terms in an effort to buy votes. The problem for farmers though is that two separate rounds of Trump tariffs have massively grown their global competition from opportunist agricultural markets with lower production costs. It seems highly unlikely that much of our traditional markets ever return to US farmers at profitable prices. So how long does the tax payer continue to subsidise unprofitable businesses?
 
And they won't make soy based products any cheaper because they need to make up the shortfall.
 
So long, flyover states.
