For all you detractors of the International Criminal Court: Try to name one major NATO or Non-NATO ally of the US besides Israel that is not a party to the ICC.
You can’t. Every single one of US’s NATO and non-NATO allies outside of Israel are members of the court
What’s more, 8 out of 18 of the judges on the court are from are NATO or non-NATO allies. 16 out of the 18 judges are recognized as hailing from liberal democracies according to Freedom House, V-dem and others. Its judges are elected and monitored by the Assembly of
State Parties. Its jurisdiction applies only in cases where a country is unable or unwilling to prosecute its own citizens for one of four crimes: genocide, crimes against humanity, war crimes, and teh crime of aggression in 2010.
But what about Israel?
The ICC arrest warrant for Netanyahu reads:
“Allegedly responsible for the war crimes of starvation as a method of warfare and of intentionally directing an attack against the civilian population; and the crimes against humanity of murder, persecution, and other inhumane acts from at least 8 October 2023 until at least 20 May 2024.”
It is important to note that this is NOT a conviction. This is a statement saying that there is enough evidence that these acts have been carried out to warrant an arrest. That’s how the justice system works, both here and at the national level. Facts and evidence.
Furthermore, there is nothing to suggest an “Equivalency” between Hamas and Israel, as outlined by the ICC prosecutor

Which was expressed in the warrant:
“Allegedly responsible for the crimes against humanity of murder; extermination; torture; and rape and other forms of sexual violence; as well as the war crimes of murder, cruel treatment, torture,; taking hostages; outrages upon personal dignity; and rape and other form of sexual violence, committed on the territory of the State of Israel and the State of Palestine from at least 7 October 2023.”
In other words, Israel is not being accused of extermination, torture, kidnapping, hostage-taking, or sexual violence, unlike Hamas. There is NO accusation that what Israel did amounts to genocide in any of these documents.
If you think I'm missing any serious bias in the ICC, do share.
