Immediate Expansion of American Timber Production
https://www.whitehouse.gov/presiden...iate-expansion-of-american-timber-production/
By the authority vested in me as President by the Constitution and the laws of the United States of America, it is hereby ordered:
Section 1. Purpose. The production of timber, lumber, paper, bioenergy, and other wood products (timber production) is critical to our Nation's well-being. Timber production is essential for crucial human activities like construction and energy production. Furthermore, as recent disasters demonstrate, forest management and wildfire risk reduction projects can save American lives and communities.
The United States has an abundance of timber resources that are more than adequate to meet our domestic timber production needs, but heavy-handed Federal policies have prevented full utilization of these resources and made us reliant on foreign producers. Our inability to fully exploit our domestic timber supply has impeded the creation of jobs and prosperity, contributed to wildfire disasters, degraded fish and wildlife habitats, increased the cost of construction and energy, and threatened our economic security. These onerous Federal policies have forced our Nation to rely upon imported lumber, thus exporting jobs and prosperity and compromising our self-reliance. It is vital that we reverse these policies and increase domestic timber production to protect our national and economic security.
Sec. 2. Directives to the Secretary of the Interior and the Secretary of Agriculture.
(a) Within 30 days of the date of this order, the Secretary of the Interior and the Secretary of Agriculture, through the Director of the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) and the Chief of the United States Forest Service (USFS), respectively, shall each issue new or updated guidance regarding tools to facilitate increased timber production and sound forest management, reduce time to deliver timber, and decrease timber supply uncertainty, such as the Good Neighbor Authority described in 16 U.S.C. 2113a, stewardship contracting pursuant to 16 U.S.C. 6591c, and agreements or contracts with Indian tribes under the Tribal Forest Protection Act as contemplated by 25 U.S.C. 3115a

Does everyone understand what this executive order means? It means that the US plans to deforest our National Parks to make up for the shortfall of lumber coming from Canada due to Trump's tariffs. It means that Trump just ordered swaths of our national forests to be cut down, 280 million acres, to be exact. All for cheaper lumber. This EO means bypassing environmental protections, including the 'Endangered Species Act'. The entire ecosystem, wolves, bears, and endangered species could be wiped out just to make timber companies richer. This isn't about helping everyday Americans, this is about helping corporate logging companies.
In the process, we lose clean water, clean air and wildlife habitats. This destruction of our forests harms the environment. Trees are a necessary component for removing carbon dioxide from the atmosphere, and cutting trees down to this extent will speed up global warming. Destroying our national forests for a quick cash-grab is reckless and shortsighted. Trump is willing to sacrifice millions of acres of protected land for cheaper lumber.
Yeah.....we found that out 100 years ago. Obvious much?
Of course logging can be problematic if laws are not followed.
The US is currently growing more trees than it cuts down.
The nutjobs are pretending that the US is going to be clear cut out of existence.
Logging also contributes to regenerating the forests when managed properly.
Slashing our incredible gifts saved by Lincoln and T. Roosevelt is what you would expect from the party of Trump.
Making demons out of National Park employees is about as disgusting as it gets in a free nation.
Maybe they'll just build new Trump golf courses and condos. Not sure how they can develop a successful reforestation program that quickly.......or maybe they just won't bother.
I wholeheartedly agree that deforestation contributes to global warming, no matter which country is doing the logging. This concern was raised in the '90s after studies of the depletion of the Amazon rain forests and the effects of global warming were revealed. Canada’s 348 million hectares of forest lands represent about 9% of the world’s forest cover, but account for only 0.3% of global deforestation.
Canada is a world leader in sustainable forest management. Deforestation only occurs when forests are permanently removed, so the land can be used for something else. All areas harvested on public land must be reforested, either by replanting or through natural regeneration. Canada has some of the most rigorous laws in the world for protecting forests and ensuring sustainable forest management, and have been able to consistently reduce deforestation over the past 20 years. Their deforestation rate is among the lowest in the world.
Additionally, a significant majority (94%) of the province's commercially managed forests have received certification from either the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) or the Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI), which are considered the leading environmental certification bodies in Canada for forestry practices. Canada is a world leader in sustainable forest management.
Is the United States committed to focusing on reforesting of acres where lumber will be cut in our national parks? As it is in Canada, lumbering is primarily a private industry, but the majority of the forest land where timber is harvested is publicly owned, like our national parks. Will there be any oversight of the private lumber companies who will be given this sweet contract to deforest our national parks? Will that oversight be non-political? That's the big question.
They already have.Maybe they'll just build new Trump golf courses and condos.

<> All cutting on federal lands requires reseeding and silt fencing. <>
"Logging doesn’t curb fires, it intensifies fires. Trump falsely claims that more logging will curb wildfires and protect communities, but there's an overwhelming amount of scientific evidence showing the exact opposite," said Chad Hanson, a co-founder of the John Muir Project. "The more trees you remove, the faster wildfire flames sweep through the forest. It gives less time for people to evacuate and less time for first responders to react."
Wildfires move faster because removing trees reduces wind resistance, allowing winds to sweep through faster, Hanson added.
"Also, removing trees reduces the 'cooling shade of the forest canopy,' creating those hotter and drier conditions," Hanson said. "When the forest canopy is reduced, it stimulates the growth of combustible invasive grasses, which like a lot of sunlight. Grasses spread flames faster."
Yeah, because Trump is concerned about following requirements.
Who cares if America burns to the ground, if you were able to troll the libs on the way down, eh? Just like a MAGA...
This is even worse. Our veterans are outraged at the job cuts in the VA which affects many veterans who are currently working for the VA.Slashing our incredible gifts saved by Lincoln and T. Roosevelt is what you would expect from the party of Trump.

I'd rather hang on to our natural beauty and get lumber from Canada.
I didn't claim that 280 million acres will be deforested, only that the areas of our national parks are comprised of 280 acres of trees, all of which is subject to be taken for lumber in the future. There are no lines drawn where it ends.
They should see the deforestation right up to an abutment with national parks, such as Olympic and Glacier, just a few of the places teaching gave us the gifts to see.I didn't claim that 280 million acres will be deforested, only that the areas of our national parks are comprised of 280 acres of trees, all of which is subject to be taken for lumber in the future. AND stops the kind of wildfires that just destroyed Palos Verdes and Malibu.
National parks and medical research are very overrated anyway.

Trump wants to increase timber harvesting on federal land.
Trump has fired and wants to fire more federal employees who would be responsible for making the increase harvesting happen.
Does that make sense to anyone?
Trump is lying to you again.Immediate Expansion of American Timber Production

I know he's lying, he doesn't know what the word 'truth' means. He's lying about Canada's fentanyl labs, too.Trump is lying to you again.
China just recently banned American lumber imports. If America exports lumber, well, you know...
Ordinarily, the US Forestry Service does any of the logging in our national parks. But, I would bet that there's an outside logging company that greased Trump's palm by donating to his election that will get the contract.Do we have the mills to appropriately process the lumber?
