WSIL -- The Illinois Sheriffs' Association, which represents law enforcers across the state, says the debate about reducing gun violence shouldn't focus on the weapons. Members argue it should focus on mental health.

During his state of the Union, President Obama renewed his push for added gun control.
"It has been two months since Newtown. This is not the first time this country debated how to reduce gun violence but this time it is different," explains Obama.

Guns were also a topic in the governor's State of the State address.
"There's no place in our state for military-style assault weapons," says Governor Pat Quinn.

Williamson County Sheriff Bennie Vick says a ban on assault weapons won't prevent future tragedies. He says mental health awareness should be the priority. Inmates in Williamson and Franklin Counties participate in mental health programs with the H Group. Vick suggests that help should be available before people wind up in jail.

"Every teacher could tell you the kids in their class, from 2nd Grade on, that are going to need some type of mental health services sometime in their life," says Vick.

Franklin County Sheriff Don Jones was among the 73 sheriffs who voted unanimously to take a stance against an assault weapons ban. He agrees with Vick, those with mental health issues aren't getting the help they need.....snip~

Illinois.....County of Cook.....Chicago. Here it is, the pushback against Obama's Gun Control and Obama running around the country trying to play on any tragedy he can. LAW Enforcement groups all across the country are coming out against the assault weapons ban. Stating cleary the weapons, those inanimate objects are not the problem. Course they are going with the safe answer with the mental health of people, alone.

I like it that they all released statements with the Media and the All Seeing Eye. But to have Obama's Own Home State, plus the County he lives in, which Includes Chicago, come out and take a Stand Against him.....is a major Slap to his face.

That falls squarely on Quinn too. Plus they want to Close Oak Forest Hospital or they did. I quit following it once they all got into court. Pluss don't forget Quinn just closed up the Woman's Prison Dwight and some other prisons too.

I heard there was up to like 12 looking to go for Juniors Seat. Plus they need to get rid of Derek Smith. That's the one that took a bribe and got ran out of the legislature. Plus juniors OL is into the Mix now. Resigned her seat to as a Alderman. Is under fed investigation as well. Napolean Harris dropped out and so did Trotter. That's for Juniors Seat.

Obama is coming here tomorrow to give a Speech at a school. Then he is going to Florida to go golfing on one of the most expensive golf courses in the country. This after having a speech in Asheville NC telling them about the economy and that they can live better lives work hard and take on some responsibility. Same thing he said in Georgia. He just had a vacation and his party time. Now here he is taking off. While things have been progressing worse Overseas. Especially with N. Korea now.

Seems his pretty speech is just mere words to him. Calling for votes for the victims. Knowing all along Feinstein's Bill is DOA on Capitol Hill. Other than going with most of the existing background checks. Course he also knew there was more than just the NRA he would be taking on. Having some Law Enforcement groups come out against him and telling him to deal with the real issues over the problem rather than play on these tragedies. Pretty much puts his azz in check.
