Of course, the reason is obvious: Trump's taxes on foreign goods and metals is the reason. Stanley Black and Decker says tariffs on these tools have cost them $800M, so sorry customer, you're going to have to pay for Trump's taxes.

Of course there are many other choices in tools. I personally don't own any DeWalt or Craftsman tools, but I can't imagine Trump's taxes are not similarly affecting other manufacturers. It's just a matter of time before other makers charge more (if they aren't already).

Sorry for the all caps, just a copy and paste...

A few more for your list

Shocking. They still make Polaroid instant film?!
When the US company announced it was going to stop producing the film in 2008, enthusiasts stepped in and made sure a factory in the Netherlands would keep production going.
Just let it die people. There's much better these days. Or at least go with a 35mm SLR.

Other than Christmas and things that break, my guess is that we'll be considering purchases more carefully. The current trade war is ****ing stupid, and I'm not enthusiastic about participating.

Same here. My normal schedule would be trading in car in 2 years. Now I'll wait til the Idiot in Chief is gone.

Our consumer economy has absorbed about as much of the tariffs as they could. P&L statements are hitting and everyone whose job it is to hold profit margins have squeezed as much as they could out of old inventory and creative accounting.

The bill is due.

A tariff is just a tax increase and tax increases make us worse off. I'm glad we all agree on that point.

Free trade is the way. Let people buy from whomever they want. If American capitalists can't compete, too f'n bad.

No it is not.
your simplistic explanation does not work

I am not spending money on anything I don't absolutely need.

The imaginary price increases of the future.

Check the labels. Some DeWalt and Craftsman cordless drills etc are manufactured in America.

Craftsman

The Craftsman CMCD720D2 V20 Cordless Brushless 1/2-in. Drill/Driver (2 Batteries) is ready for your drilling and fastening needs.

Brushless motors provide up to 60% more runtime* and produces 400 unit watts.

1/2-in keyless chuck.
LED light.

Produced at the Stanley/Black & Decker facility in Fort Mill, SC.

I reccommend RIDGID TOOLS

The Ridge Tool Company is an American manufacturing company that makes and distributes tools under the Ridgid brand name. The company was founded in 1923 in North Ridgeville, Ohio. In 1943, it relocated to its current location in Elyria, Ohio, and in 1966, it became a wholly owned subsidiary of Emerson Electric. Ridgid tools are targeted at the plumbing, pipe fitting, construction, and HVAC trades. The brand is best known for its distinctive red pipe wrenches, but the company manufactures over 300 different types of tools

What's funny is you're just the type of person who will be affected by Trump's tax.

DeWalt tools have already gone up in price because of tariffs.

Luckily, all my DeWalt tools are in good working order. I don't anticipate needing anything replaced anytime soon. I own enough Craftsman tools for three mechanics to work from. They are all under a lifetime guarantee.

I dont need any tools right now.
Is like some deep socket shit but tool wise im ok.
Still sucks though.

Did some fact checking

My local Home Depot has the 2 drill set plus circular saw combo kit listed in your link at $419 ;priced lower at $379.

Plus the 2 hammer drill set DCD806 hammer drill and top of the line DCF860 impact driver listed in your link at $339.

My local Home Depot list it at $249.

The single drill set listed in your link within the inset flyer is $179. My local Home Depot sells it for $129

Clearly the OP is a lie and propaganda that easily is debunked with simple research

Did you notice those are special buys? Those are limited time sales prices negotiated by Home Depot that may not have been available when the person wrote the article.

Only certain Rigid items are made here. Those power tools, China.

Ridgid hand tools, with a red and black color scheme, are manufactured here in the U.S. by the Ridge Tool Company (owned by Emerson). But Ridgid power tools with an orange and black color scheme are made in China by Techtronic Industries Co., LTD (TTI) — except for Ridgid shop vacuums, which are gray and orange and made by Emerson in the U.S.

Your thread is burning in flames. Admit you rushed to try and slam Trump without doing any research.
