What does your above question have to do with your earlier assertion that I responded to?Give me an off the top of your head estimate of how many standard traditional conservatives still hold office in the GOP both House and Senate as of next January.
And now, at this juncture, as of January 6, 2021, they are fully prepared to resort to armed violence to achieve that end.
The "whole of the Right" is mostly composed of traditional conservatives and Trumpers, yes? What does your above question have to do with your earlier assertion that I responded to?
Who said anything about convicting Trump?lol is it SOP for you guys to call deflection on anything you don't agree with now ? because that is how it appears. just wondering.
you are right, but in order to convict Trump you have to prove some stuff. also you have to prove quite a bit to say it was a general , armed insurrection by the majority of the people there as well.
there was possibly one small group who planned something that day, but it did NOT involve even close to the majority of people, and it fell through like a rotten tomato... which does not justify their actions, BUT it DOES speak to the possibility of this overblown riot having any effect on our democracy, which it did not and was never going to no matter how many times you scream it might have.
Leading questions aren’t going to work. The "whole of the Right" is mostly composed of traditional conservatives and Trumpers, yes?
You made a blanket assertion against right wingers that isn’t supported by facts/reality.And now, at this juncture, as of January 6, 2021, they are fully prepared to resort to armed violence to achieve that end.

Something like 2 dozen people have been charged with seditious conspiracy. Several have already pled guilty and in trial the jury is currently deliberating.it was a large riot, and people are being prosecuted for such. a few people MAY even be charged with sedition.. I am not sur e where that stands for the small group that DID plan something.

You had a president trying to put into action a plan to steal the election from the voters and retain power for himself.
You had more than a few people there on J6 apparently eager to make that happen. How many? I don't know and I don't care. That is not the point.
Trump's ill conceived plan absolutely was a threat to our democracy. Those that tried to help make it happen are a treat. And frankly, the millions and millions of ignorant Trumpers who still believe the election was stolen from him are a threat to our democracy. They want their guy to win; not democracy to prevail.
In short, you have valid points as to those who exaggerate the events of January 6. But by the same token, you and others massively understate how serious J6 was and everything related to it.
Yes. Definitely. All they had to do was kidnap some legislators, or pence.
In relationship to the whole of “the right”, a very small fraction.
By who?Nice try.
They would have been shot dead.
We don't know what would have happened if Trump had declared martial law or pulled other power moves, using J6 as his excuse. If he could twist the law enough to have Pence throw out the votes, he could twist the law in lots of other ways.to say they did is sensationalism. those idiots never had a chance, if that was what they were indeed planning.

Thank God our military is taught loyalty to the Constitution, but what happens when Trump claims the Constitution means one thing, while others claim it means another?
Trump wanted chaos and uncertainty, and his ultimate goal was to retain power, no matter how he had to do it.
I think that should be our focus.
Perhaps this will put a fine point on what I am getting at:In relationship to the whole of “the right”, a very small fraction.
By who?
Hello @RetiredUSN ---- BY WHO?
WHO would have shot them dead?
DC Police? Capitol Police? NatGuard?
Sergeant at Arms?
All of them, every last ONE of them were ORDERED by SecDef Chris Miller TO STAND DOWN.

So then what was the purpose of stopping the steal? Is this for some kind of fanfiction that you're writing? The most that would've happened, and this is being generous, is that the votes would've been reviewed with the same election results happening.
You want proof that Trump was trying to implement the Eastman plan? Seriously?I'd like to see proof of that. let ,me know when they start the trial to prove it... a REAL criminal trial, not one for political points.. I think that will be , never.
I am exxagerating nothing, those 700 rioters and 12 to 30 so odd schemers never came close to overthrowing anything, per the "success" asked about in the OP, so it is a moot point.
to say they did is sensationalism. those idiots never had a chance, if that was what they were indeed planning.
thus our democracy was never in jeopardy. all this talk about how the "right" did this and that, is merely political gamesmanship.
ok, get your DOJ to indict him so we can see the evidence in a criminal law setting. You want proof that Trump was trying to implement the Eastman plan? Seriously?
What did you think Trump was urging Pence to do? Lamenting what Pence didn't do? Forgot to take out the trash and it was garbage night? And the hang Mike Pence chants, signs and mock gallows? What were those about?
As for your next point, maybe you stumbled into the wrong thread. Were you looking for: "List of crimes Trump will be prosecuted for regarding January 6?" This isn't that thread.
I believe, as has been stated by Kinzinger, Liz Cheney, and several other former GOP officials that remain in contact with current GOP House/Senate officials, that the majority are not radicalized Trumpsters. Rather, they are simply cowards, too afraid to speak out against Traitor TrumpI just want to know if you think ordinary conservatives have much of ANY representation in today's GOP in Congress.
If you don't want to answer that, just say so.
Nearly every traditional conservative with the spine to speak out.I happen to think that they do not because almost EVERY traditional conservative has been BOOTED OUT at this point.
I called it a leading question because it was a leading question. You want to call that a leading question,
Not a fact. Your opinion.go ahead, but it doesn't change the fact that 98 percent of congressional Republicans in House and Senate are now Trumpers.
Your posts in this thread, and others, prove otherwise.I didn't make a blanket assertion against the Right, I made it against Trumpers.
When Republicans began losing elections, they gave up on democracy.
Not my perspective though, it's theirs!
They're so smug that a goodly number of them are now openly talking about how democracy is not the way America needs to go.
And now, at this juncture, as of January 6, 2021, they are fully prepared to resort to armed violence to achieve that end.
I'd bet that roughly half of leftists actually believe the narrative that, "the US govt was almost overthrown".It never ceases to amaze me how fragile our democracy appears to the left.
Apparently, all it takes to bring down the United States of America is 700 rioters.
Have you informed the Chinese?
No argument here, that Trumpism is in control of House/Senate GOP members, but that isn't what my post was in response to.“Aren’t there five decent Republicans in the House who will announce they won’t vote for anyone for Speaker who doesn’t denounce their party’s current leader, Donald Trump, for consorting with the repulsive neo-Nazi Fuentes?”
---Bill Kristol ---- sometimes referred to as a conservative, unless the observer is a Trumper, in which case Kristol is obviously a communist, right?
There aren't "five decent Republicans" in the House because they all got primaried and booted out in the last election.
The GOP House is fully owned and controlled BY Trumpers now.
That is a fact.
First, as far as I know, Lindell hasn’t called for violence, as you have repeatedly asserted the right are prepared and willing to engage in to get their way.Perhaps this will put a fine point on what I am getting at:
MyPillow CEO Lindell says he is running to unseat RNC Chair McDaniel
"I am 100% running for the RNC chairman against Ronna McDaniel," he said.www.axios.com
There is a very good chance Mike Lindell might GET his post as RNC chairman.
Only the dumbest, most delusional, deliberately ignorant and dishonest moron would assert that the historic, violent attack on the Capitol building/Congress by crazy ass Trumpsters was other than an attempt to prevent the final certification of the legitimate winner (Joe Biden) of the 2020 election. The other half are merely "pretending" to believe that a few hundred unarmed middle aged men & women could take down the US govt, by orderly walking down the hallways and taking selfies(Oh wait, that's the part of the video that Nancy Pelosi and the "news" media refuse to show, because it destroys the BS narrative).
First, as far as I know, Lindell hasn’t called for violence, as you have repeatedly asserted the right are prepared and willing to engage in to get their way.
Second, please let me know if you’re willing to make a wager on Lindell becoming the next RNC Chair.
