If American newspapers talk of "Christian schools" they usually mean evangelical fundamentalist schools. You may even read questions like these: "Do Christian schools also accept Catholic children?"

Maybe you may even read: "Do Catholic schools also accept Christian students?"

All this is too absurd for words.

When I hear or read the term "Christian" meaning only "evangelical fundamentalist" - then it makes me sick, too!
If you call yourself a christian and you voted for trump, I have to wonder what type of christian you are knowing what you know about the man and still be able to vote for him with a clear conscience.

A lot of "christians" like to define themselves in terms of in-groups and out-groups - as in, those who got christianity right, and those who got it wrong. It's just a unique expression of a rather general flaw in human beings, and it applies itself to more things than just christianity, or just religions in general. It's no different than people thinking themselves superior for being a Democrat vs. being Republican. The schism between catholic "christians" and non-catholic "christians" goes back 500 years to Martin Luther who said the catholic church got christianity wrong.

The shia and sunni factions of islam are no different.

I do not think that Catholics would maintain that Protestants are not Christians now.
It seems it is more of a Protestant habit to maintain that Catholics are not Christians.

According to my experience.

I do not see this at all. You must be on another planet....

Once again proving you know NOTHING about what goes on religiously in America,

Where do you get this nonsense from?

Are you ever not obsessed with fundamentalists v. Catholics?

When you ask a Catholic what religion they are, they usually say "Catholic." When you ask a Protestant what religion they are, I've never heard one say "Protestant". I've always found that odd.

The first time I came across this opinion i thought: "OMG! These people must be terrible stupid!"
And I still think so.
I think it's important to remember that all Christians don't hold that belief. Just a few specific denominations.

Not for me but they are for many US fundamentalist Christians who believe that Catholics are not Christian.

I would like to quote some from your eccellent article:

Here is a good article on that topic:

Catholics worship Mary. Here’s the truth: Catholics deeply respect Mary, but we worship only God. We ask her to pray for us, and we honor her because through her consent to God’s will, Jesus came into the world. In the Bible Mary said, “All generations will call me blessed.” Catholics fulfill her prophecy by venerating and loving her—and as St. Bernard reminds us, “We can never love her more than Jesus did.”

Catholics worship statues. The fact is that Catholics have statues to remind us of the saints, but we certainly don’t worship statues or invest them with any spiritual powers. Statues call to mind the people we love, just as cherished family photos do. And there’s clearly a huge difference between glancing fondly at a photo of grandma—and worshipping it.

More about it:

It seems the Evangelicals do a great job propaganda-wise.
They have convinced most people in the USA that they are the only Christians worthy of that name.
They are so successful that even many American Catholics fall for that idea and think that Catholics are no Christians.

Well, then it's the fault of those Catholics if they believe that.

Yeah, it is.

The first time that I have read the question: "Are Catholics also Christians" I thought that this question could only come from an utterly stupid person who knows nothing about religion.

Later I I had to learn that many fanatical evangelical fundamentalists really think that Catholics are no Christians.

So to ask that question one must be utterly stupid or utterly fanatic - or both.

I have to laugh, christians arguing about who is a christian versus who is a catholic and are catholics christians. When do y'all start killing each other over your silly religious beliefs? Here's an idea, keep your religion and your beliefs to yourself and we'll all be better off.
