Conservative here.
However there's been a few of these posts. None ever give a really great view of DP but all give at least a little view. May want to search posts in this forum, you'll likely find a few.
Also, feel free to check out THIS linke which shows you registered stats of people.
Who is the most liberal or conservative?
Who is the most liberal or conservative?
The trouble with terms such as "most" liberal or conservative is that those who describe themselves as such are often anything but liberal or conservative in their approach to politics. They are simply rigidly dogmatic and extreme.
I consider myself a liberal. Some of the more extreme lefties call me a right winger. Similarly, there are conservatives who face challenges to their conservative cred from those on the extreme right.
If there is to be some sort of contest in regards to "most", it should be who most closely reflects the core values of the actual political philosophy involved rather than who is the most extreme.
On which issue? Rather than pigeonhole people, you might be surprised to know that the ideological makeup of most people depends on which issue is being discussed at any particular point in time. My wife, for instance, is very Liberal, but sides with Conservatives on the illegal alien issue. I am Conservative, but could be called pro-choice, in that I have no problem with a state having legal abortions, if that is what it's constituents want. Also, if a state wants gay marriage, I have no problem with that either.
To sum it up, there is no one-size-fits-all when it comes to ideology. The ideology of just about anybody will depend on context and issues.
I consider myself left-of-center, but I'm also very pro-business and pro-trade.
The reason I consider myself independent is because my stances on issues are determined by my own independent thoughts and my own personal ideology. I am not a student of philosophy, political or otherwise. I am not inspired by world, national, state, or community leaders to adopt their philosophies. I do not watch or listen to the opinion shows of those who analyze the news. I believe that I have the capability to do the analysis and reach conclusions all on my own. It is my own ideology crafted from my own analysis, rather than influenced from without.
Peoples general opinions of my ideology may paint me as being right of center. A slight libertarian socially and domestically, and a hawk on foreign policy would be a a way to group me I suppose.
Interesting, thanks.
Out of curiosity what do you think fo the recent court decision concerning corporate contributions?
I vote for navy pride as being the most conservative. But, then i wonder if he is really a liberal in disguise, sort of like an agent provocateur.
Nope. NP is the real deal. He is probably an old man, like myself, who is set in his ways. I disagree with him on a lot of things, but viewpoints like his are part of the good mix we have here at DP.
I am an old man too. I have the mind of an 18 year old in a 67 year body.
:rofl:rofl:roflI'm not so sure wheather or not I'd really wish to have he mind of an 18 year old now that I am in my dottage, but there are certainly other parts I wouldn't mind having.
I was curious about the make up of Debate Politics Forums.
