of the Republican budget victory:

Icing on the Cake for the Speaker and for inner-city children in Washington, D.C.: The D.C. scholarship program John Boehner has fought for is in the deal. The bill the House passed last month to extend the program will be signed by the president, despite his opposition.

John Boehner just walked Barack Obama into being a civil-rights leader.

I imagine the negotiations on that might have been happening about the time the president was speaking to Al Sharpton’s group this week, ironically.

That’s a great victory.

For those who don't normally click on linked articles, don't worry CP posted the entire thing word for word in his post. Thats literally the entire thing. So what the hell is it talking about I could use a more details before I jump for joy. I mean I guess if I was some partisan something so generic and vague would suffice...

found this:
The D.C. Opportunity Scholarship Program — which provides low-income District students with federal money to attend private schools — is a top priority of Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio). The program was closed to new entrants by Democrats in 2009, but Boehner has sought to revive and expand the program. The House passed a Boehner-authored bill last month -- the SOAR Act -- to reauthorize the program for five more years, and that bill will be included in the final spending deal and signed into law by Obama.
Budget deal includes D.C. abortion rider, money for school vouchers - D.C. Wire - The Washington Post

for the kids who get the scholarship, this is great
for the private schools who get to add students to increase their incomes, they would find it great
for the taxpayer, paying the private school tuition of selected students ... why are we subsidizing private school tuition?
and for the DC students who will be left to get their education in inferior schools, which will continue to remain inferior as the additional money will now be given over to private schools - this is not so great

still don't know how this walked Obama back into being a civil rights leader. hope the OP will explain that

do you know how much we spend per student in Washington DC?

which is why we should reform those too. which is why i'm so happy that michele rhee is now in charge of..... oh, wait. teachers unions got her fired.
