Immigration and Customs Enforcement and the Department of Homeland Security have claimed multiple times since May that there’s been a 413 percent increase in assaults against their agents to justify their officers wearing masks and refusing to identify themselves. The data states otherwise.

Bump found that assaults on agents had decreased every month since 2024 and, despite repeated requests to ICE, wasn’t given any proof of ICE agents being doxxed, targeted, or assaulted outside the context of an immigration arrest.

The organization that has conducted countless raids and crackdowns, kidnapped innocent people off the street, and handcuffed elected officials, is now trying to frame itself as the victim so that its officers can continue to feel big and strong behind the anonymity of their masks.

Trump wants 3,000 people a day arrested so it only makes sense that ice has to 'detain' innocent people to reach that quota, doesn't matter if they are guilty as long as they are brown.

I don't know about how Yahoo affects your work station when accessing their pages, but here in Japan, if I want to read anything on a Yahoo site I have to fire up the tower unit or the Win10 unit. On this old one I use Yahoo adverts me into - - - well, I just don't go to Yahoo most of the time.

Then I checked what I thought was one link in your first sentence and it is two links and I'm not to keen on being bugged to log in when I get to the former Twitter site.

So you don't much care for those that enforce the law, right? You are into anarchy? Maybe the French Revolution style? You know, the people decide who is guilty and who should die? No professional police?

I don't have a work station and I'm in america, retired. I have no problem with law enforcement enforcing the law legal like but not what ice is doing. Open borders is a lie you folks keep telling each other.
 
I think his message opinion was a bit different, he had some numbers but didn't provide anything to where they are from,

"The use of a percentage here is very intentional, as it’s easier to inflate and sensationalize. “A 413 percent increase could mean that the number of assaults went from 200 in 2024 to 1,026 in 2025—or that it went from eight to 41.… There’s a big difference between an increase of 826 assaults and an increase of 33—especially if some of those ‘assaults’ are of the Lander variety,” wrote Bump, who dug into the claim in a piece published Thursday."

His opinion was interesting and probably closer to true. I would have to see the actual data but it seems it is obscured for now.

Are you saying that if anyone comes in w/o being processed at a border station, then the border is "open"?

If so, then "open border" a meaningless but emotionally loaded descriptor.

There are lots of reasons. First among them is it creates fear. Secret Police with Unlimited power to do as they choose. If you try and complain what can you do? This guy right here. He punched the old lady. Oh we checked he wasn't one of ours. We want to interview everyone there to find out who he was. We can't do that.

It also opens the door for extrajudicial groups to pretend. Put on the same sort of masks and vests and who would challenge them? They look like the actual agents right? I guarantee that those groups would not be pursued for impersonating a Federal Agent.

I said no such thing. Why do we need border patrol if our borders are open, why do we need ice for that matter? By open I can only presume our southern border is not a complete impenetrable wall with electrified fencing is what is closer to what you mean, no?

BUT, I decided in another post before I got a few winks that I needed some English comprehension lessons and so I asked what the definition is of this: illegal immigrant. Could you please define "illegal immigrant" for me? Thank you.

Oh, and you can provide the definition in English and not in any of the other hundreds of languages that have that same designation for certain humans inside the given nation's area of responsibility. I mean, that is the idea of a "border" right? Economic stuff and other such stuff INSIDE a given area of a national entity?

You know, there is an interesting border where I worked for a number of years. You ought to go take a look at that, if security lets you in. Some folks call that border a DMZ. All sorts of neat stuff in a certain area; landmines, folks with machine guns, towers, big speakers blaring out all sorts of noise. You ever seen a border like that? Oh yes, I forgot to mention that razor wire, too. Upgrade from that earlier wire stuff.

And along a stretch of Europe there used to be this border that was very much like that DMZ I just described.

BUT, sorry, let's get back to my English lesson, please. Definition of an illegal immigrant. Again, thank you.

It seems that a key problem here is like what does the vocabulary "open" mean.

And without pulling down any of my dictionaries, or going to Professors Bing or Google, I'll give you my idea.

I open a beer and turn that can open end down and had not drunk that beer before that I lose a can of beer. Or maybe half, if I flip it back the other way fast enough. NOW THAT IS AN OPEN CAN!

Now, a closed can I turn the top down and if that manufacturer did the job right, all the beer remains in the can.

OR, I remember something from when I owned a home stateside; an open driveway. As compared to a closed driveway.

So I suspect, just suspect, that an "open border" means nobody is checking who crosses that "border" and I put "border" in quote marks because I suspect y'all want this stupid country boy to define "border". BUT let me do that later.

So does my non-dictionary definition of "open" meet with all y'all's definition of "open" or do we need more refinement to that which fits into that "emotionally loaded" category?

Although, I will admit that if I drink too many cans of opened beer I could get "loaded" --- maybe even emotionally loaded.
