Democratic Socialism and George Orwell

I can provide plenty of quotes if you claiming Sanders, AOC, and Mamdani are socialists when what they propose are Nordic model.

Do DSA members support public control over the economy? Yes or no.

When Democrats support universal healthcare like the Nordic countries have or nationalized industries, are they supporting capitalism?

No.

He didn't get to observe that not one socialist state has been anything other than an oppressive, authoritarian, poverty-ridden, shithole.

How many states governed by your personal philosophy have been successful?

I don't know what label you use for yourself, and you guys get prickly about that.

He can correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure @aociswundumho is a Hans Herman-Hoppe guy, which means he's a neo-feudalist.

Orwell died in 1950. He didn't get to see the dozens of other socialist "experiments" since then. He didn't get to observe that not one socialist state has been anything other than an oppressive, authoritarian, poverty-ridden, shithole. Is that just bad luck, or is it simply what happens when the state is given that much control over people's lives?

Whether it's democratic or revolutionary, you can't have both state control over the economy and a free society. When you make the people poor and miserable, they will vote you out asap.
So are there a bunch of voids in your map of Europe?

Just blank spaces where the social democracies are?

You know, the ones in the top ten best places to live in the world?

Generally they are dismissed as unworkable here, not poverty ridden shitholes.

As far as I know their populations have never voted any of them out.

The only real difference is their rich people have to actually pay taxes. They still get rich like capitalists. Just not as fast and not at the expense of the rest of the population, like in capitalism.

You generally seem fairly level headed but get all religious about this one topic.

“Grab everything you can with both hands and **** everybody else” has never been a successful behavior pattern over any length of time. And never without exploitation by force the whole time.

Yes apparently a bar of soap cost some months pay in Denmark because that's what it costs in Cuba.

These people love to point out Nordic socialism which is a fantasy.

A lot of these countries have privatized social security.

They just like the fat welfare. That's a trick to buy votes
So tell us you know nothing about the topic without saying you know nothing about the topic.

I know exactly where you got these ideas. The same place all the other people with identical ideas got them. The CEC.

It’s the cookie cutter identical perspectives and examples and imagery that gives it away.

Yeah I guess I'm not familiar with the lies people tell themselves while being brainwashed. You got me
I know exactly where you got these ideas.
History, Carl Marx himself
The same place all the other people with identical ideas got them. The CEC.
Don't know what that is

We do. It’s why we oppose authoritarianism.

Why don’t you take those books as a warning?
The only way I can see anybody on the right telling folks they should take a page from Orwell either didn’t read it or didn’t understand it, as trumplandia
Is far closer to Oceana than anything else.

So Denmark can't be socialist.

I don't need convincing that they aren't socialist I never feel fell for that lie in the first place
Good we’re making progress.

Democratic socialism is not soviet or chinese communism.

Social democracies have mixed economies, they are not socialist states. They are also much less free than the US.
Why do I never hear of them complaining about that?

How do they keep winning the best places to live and happiest population contests in those lands of less freedom?

This is one of those times where I have to ask who to believe, you or my lying eyes?

Except it's not different from "traditional socialism", since virtually every socialist state has ended up the same way. Name a socialist state wasn't a form of "oligarchical collectivism".

There is no such thing as traditional socialism. Socialism has been used in many different forms of government. They aren’t all the same.
