I have a ipod classic 120GB. Its probably about 3 and half years old. The problem i keep on having is that it keeps deleting all my music for some reason. Luckily i have it all my music backed up on my external hardrive but its just really annoying.

Does anyone know why this would happen?
Does anyone else have this problem?

I believe the problem is you purchased a product from an evil capitalist corperation that took your money to enrich it's executives while using low wage slave labor. Perhpas you should find a Co-op made product that would work better!

KIDDING

Is it an issue with the device having a fault? Or is the music not "legit" by apple standards, thus it's wiping out "illegitimate" music? (Thinking DRM conflict here)

Try purchasing say, 5 songs from the iTunes store, and see if they stay. If they do, it's a DRM issue, if they delete as well, it's a device issue.

Well all of my music is downloaded not from I tunes and from CD's i own.
Would it be corrupted possibly?

Could it be that you have your itunes that your connecting it to doesn't have your music on it, and it is set up to sync all music from the library?

No i have manually add music to the ipod option selected.

does the library crap out or the actual music files?

Does it erase it at random or after you load it? If you disconnect the iPod without 'ejecting' it first via iTunes, it will show that you have a blank iPod.

Buy a new MP3 player, non Apple and non dependent on iTunes.. problem solved!
