The Iroquois Confederacy was awesome. Multiple native tribes United into one group, a massive deal of peace. The idea is just... awesome.

The Iroquois Confederacy didn't disappear but split and was forced to relocate due to the American Revolution. Many nations allied with the British, who lost the war and ceded Iroquois land to the Americans in the Treaty of Paris. As a result, the British resettled many Iroquois in Canada, while other groups faced forced land sales and relocation within the United States. The Confederacy fractured during the war, leading to distinct communities that largely remain separate to this day.

A Confederacy Divided
  • Beaver Wars:
Centuries before the Revolution, the Confederacy's growing influence and control over trade led to expansion and the subjugation of other tribes.

    • American Revolution:
The conflict created a civil war within the Six Nations.
        • The Mohawk, Cayuga, Seneca, and some Onondaga sided with the British.
        • The Oneida and Tuscarora allied with the Americans.
    • Internal Conflict:
The division led to devastating raids and counter-raids between the tribes, weakening the entire Confederacy.
Post-War Impact
    • Disregard for Allies:
After the American victory in the Revolutionary War, the British ceded their allies' lands to the new United States without consulting them.
    • Resettlement to Canada:
Many of the Iroquois who had sided with the British, such as the Mohawk, Cayuga, and Seneca, were resettled by the British in Canada.
