I don't understand these anti vaxers.

Religious beliefs? That's total bullshit. The guy can get the transplant at another hospital but needs to prove a point. That he's a ****ing ignorant moron.
Transplant recipients have to receive immunosuppressant drugs to minimize the chance of transplant organ rejection. Long term. Which means they need to receive vaccines before the transplant to lessen the chance of infection.
If he's unwilling to receive the vaccines the organ will go to a recipient with a higher likelihood of survival.
It's simple.

I understand. I just can't believe they don't. And in this case there was a hospital willing to do it without the vaccine. Absolutely ridiculous. Trying to be some kind of martyr.

I understand it. They hate some amorphous 'Other' more than they love themselves and their family, so their hatred, anger and desire to prove a point by being vindictive takes priority over other considerations. As such, dying horribly knowing that in their final breaths they gave the leftist filth the finger is preferable to enjoying joyous years with children and grandchildren.

I'm fine with this, because such people weeding themselves out of the gene pool is a net positive for our society. This is to say nothing for the potential deals the rest of us can score when their estates are sent for liquidation. It's a win-win for everyone involved, if you think about it. And perhaps that makes this person a hero after all.

People like this fool don't deserve life saving transplants. That heart should go to someone with respect for the procedure and the fact they will be on anti-rejection medication and vaccines the rest of their life to prevent them from coming down with any illness that will put their new heart at risk.

He may think he's a big hero. More like a dead hero soon enough. Guess he forgot trumpdump doesn't like dead/fallen hero's.

There are well established protocols for all kinds of medical procedures. They are not political in nature. They are developed to increase the likelihood of successful outcomes and minimize complications. When a patient makes it clear they do not intend to permit the protocols to be followed, that has to be a factor for the doctors as to proceed or not.

In this situation, the patient is not a good candidate, based on his refusal to follow the protocols. The heart should go to someone more inclined to seek the best possible outcome rather than making a political statement.

I don't think he will find a hospital that is willing to make a risky heart transplant operation on someone unvaccinated. Then risk is too high.
The article said there was one but he refuse to make a point. His point being h3s an ignorant moron.ŵ

"I don't want to die because I got a granddaughter and my wife and everything and my kids, but I believe so hard with not taking the vaccine that I'm willing to die for," Long said.

Yes you do want to die you ignorant selfish asshole.

In a video interview with Long and his wife Christina, Ohio Advocates for Medical Freedom President Stephanie Stock called the situation “vaccine status discrimination”

🤦‍♀️

I don't care. The guy wants to die even though there is a hospital willing to do the transplant without the vaccine. His dopey choice. See ya

would you force someone and remove their "choice" ??

In this case no. Although suicide is illegal and a case could be made but I sure don't care.

ok, so understand there are two sides in the USA, very different views. You don't care because you believe you are right.

now, the other side, opposite of you? they believe they're equally right ..... do you understand when they remove people's choices ?

That doesn't make any sense. Another hospital offered to do the procedure without the vaccine and he declined. He also spouted religious beliefs which is also bullshit and irrelevant since another hospital would do it. His choice is to be some kind of martyr but in actuality a complete and utter moron.

my point is missed - I'm sorry, I'll stop trying to make it

The sad thing is, some people just absolutely cannot stand the possibility that they are wrong.

To them, the belief that "vaccines are super dangerous!" has become either a core belief, or a belief linked to so many other beliefs, that being proven wrong would shatter their world view.

This isn't a sign of strength, it's a sign of weakness. A strong person can accept contrary evidence, admit they were wrong (even grudgingly), and move on.

There's also a social aspect. If you're surrounded by people who think that vaccines are deeply immoral, and you spent years telling everyone you believe that vaccines are immoral, and then you get a whole bunch of vaccinations and turn out fine? You're likely to get shunned by those anti-vaxx peers.

It's rare that someone has an ego so fragile that they'd rather die than admit they were wrong. But there's 330+ million people in the US, so... obviously, there's a few of them out there.

its called choice
Tell you what. Go to your doctor and tell him you want to know if you have prostate cancer, and you want no blood tests, no biopsy.

Your doctor, if he is not a quack, will tell you to get out. He will not diagnose without established medical protocols.

It's called choice.

my Dad had brain cancer ... he said no to every follow up test and further examination, saying in no way would he do any treatments for it

the doctor said completely understand, go home, enjoy your remaining days, here's the number to hospice when you need them ......... and that's what we did

they'd have run battery of tests, drilled into his brain ... all of that if he'd have chose that

Brain cancer is going to kill you. (I'd still get it treated.)

Prostate cancer probably is not if you get it treated. derp.

And passing on a needed heart transplant because you dont want to get vaccinated, well thats stupidity on a Trumptard level.

and all 3 are choices for each person to decide for themselves
