I must say that I have to agree with President Trump and the GOP in the House in insisting on basic fairness in the impeachment investigation.

It is right and proper for the GOP to insist and fight for

1 - the Republicans must keep their seats on the investigative Committees and not be shut out of the room.

2 - The Republicans who attend the investigative hearings must have the right to ask questions of witnesses.

3- The Republicans must insist a written record be kept of the proceedings so that it can later be released to the American people.

Let these three things happen and the hearings will then be fair and there would be no rational reason for any partisan complaint.

If only these things had been allowed perhaps the ugly partisan scene today of GOP Congress persons invading the hearing like a bunch of Thirties fascists busting up a meeting would not have taken place.

Is any of this not the case?

The committees on Financial Services, the Judiciary, Intelligence, Foreign Affairs, Oversight and Reform, and Ways and Means are all part of the impeachment inquiry. Which Republican members of these committees have been shut out of the process?

I believe they need to be able to call witnesses as well, and open the proceedings according to established precedent.

Isn't that already happening?

The Republicans who are on the committees were not asked to leave, they were allowed to ask questions, and I am sure there is some form of record being kept of the proceedings

Lets be real though. They don't want it to be fair, tgey want it to disappear

The republicans already have a seat at the table. Squirm cons, elections have consequences.

LOCK THEM UP.

Were Democrats allowed to call witnesses on Republican committees, which were doing sham investigations? What is wrong with closed door hearings at the early stage of the process, which Republicans also held in their sham investigations?

This partisanship goes both ways.

I haven't seen Moscow Mitch doing anything to bring over 100 House bills sitting in his desk to a vote in the Senate.

Mitch hasn't done ****. It's all a ploy to try and say the house dems aren't legislating. If the GOP thinks americans are truly that stupid they have another thing coming.

All I have to say to these clowns in the republicant party?

Hey baby, KISS THE GOAT.

sorry, what sham investigations?

Your phrase 'call on witnesses' is weird. They cannot call witnesses - that is standard for the minority party just as Democrats had few rights when Republicans were in charge and abused their power preventing calling legitimate witnesses, which Democrats aren't doing - but Republicans on the committee get to question the witnesses, I presume.

What is wrong with closed door hearings at the early stage of the process.....

Nothing. Closed door hearings while doing investigations are oftentimes necessary to; Protect the identity of a witness. Mask the bulk of witness testimony so those being subpoenaed do not know the specifics of what has already been testified to and thus cannot tailor their responses with such information in mind.

Perhaps if Devin Nunes and Jim Jordan hadn't previously run to the White House recapping witness testimony there would be more trust today among thieves.

Exactly, Republicans' only goal is to disrupt and corrupt the process, doing things like changing their lies based on the testimony, which the closed door hearing are supposed to prevent, though it really doesn't since the Republicans on the committee will tell others the testimony.

People like Nunes were simply criminal in violating the process to work for the criminal trump, betraying his office.

No...we, the public, need more:

4. Public televised hearings.

5. Transcripts published to the House website (for those who cannot watch the hearings).

Oh, and they let the Dems call witnesses when investigating Clinton for Benghazi and her emails. NOT. Elections have consequences as GOPers are always saying

I know Trumpsters want nothing but to protect Trump, but you must realize that the Ukraine investigation will include classified information. GOPers want to compare this to the Clinton impeachment, but that investigation and impeachment was about lying in court and sex and had nothing to do with classified information. There will be public hearing, but you can bet they will not include classified information. You do not hear those GOPers that are on those committees protesting about the SCIF hearings, because they are smart enough to know why this is happening. And complaints about rebuttal witnesses, look at the Hillary and ask yourself how many witnesses did the GOP allow the Dems, that right none. And they were also not allowed to send subpoenas either.

Go back and read some of the demands made by Nixon and Nixon supporters. They are very similar to what Trump and Trump supporters are saying in 2019.

Now, Richard Nixon was not being controlled by the leader of a foreign country so that puts Donald Trump way below Richard Nixon. And Trump supporters way below Nixon supporters.

#1-They are
#2-They do
#3-Republicans don't have to do that, the record is kept, and eligible parts of the transcript will be released to the public when the circumstances of the investigation allow it. You are completely wrong about your last sentence. The R's storming the SCIF were not members of any of the committees investigating, and had no right (under House rules) to be there.

That happens in the Senate. Can you name any other investigation that follows your suggestions?

You're damn right. And when the GOP runs the House again under a Dems Prez, that Prez is going to go through tons of pain.

Um, those three things are allowed. I'm rather shocked that you didn't know that.
