That's a big enough story in itself but in his letter to her explaining the reasons he acted is this gem:

“The Federal Reserve has tremendous responsibility for setting interest rates and regulating reserve and member banks. The American people must be able to have full confidence in the honesty of the members entrusted with setting policy and overseeing the Federal Reserve. In light of your deceitful and potentially criminal conduct in a financial matter, they cannot and I do not have such confidence in your integrity.

Are you far king kidding me???????????????????????? If that is the standard upon which a public servant in the financial area must fall on their sword, how much higher is the standard for POTUS?

He refers to allegations of 'deceit' in a financial matter.

Wow, how about his judicially determined deceit (no doubt about it....not mere allegations) in the New York case? How about his deceit (judicially determined, no doubt about it....not mere allegations) in making false business records in the Stormy Daniels cover up?

He refers to potentially criminal conduct in a financial matter.

Wow, how about 34 felony convictions ..... galaxies beyond mere allegations........on financial matters?

What hide the man has to even consider moving against her when mere assertions have been made, but worse, even to go to print and make such ridiculously hypocritical statements. This woman gets sacked because of allegations of misconduct in financial matters, yet POTUS, the bloke doing the sacking and Leading the Western World has been CONVICTED of criminal conduct in financial matters, and yet remains in the most important, powerful position in the entire bloody World.

FMD!

Come on Team USA.

I quote like this actually. I think we can use this example and argument to get rid of at least half the GOP congress (and a few Dems), plus at least 2 or maybe 3 conservative members of SCOTUS.

Legally, firing Cook is highly dubious. She's vowed to fight and I hope she does. The president can fire her for cause, but the cause is an unsubstantiated allegation from a Trump loyalist.
Yes, true, but tangential to my point in this Thread which is the brazen and sheer naked corrupt hypocrisy on display to the entire Planet. Team USA cannot just walk by this.

Trump, Stephen Miller and pixie Mike Johnson are evil.

Satan must be smiling. And Putin of course.

Cook wasn't elected. Trump was.

The people spoke about Trump...and Trump has spoken about Cook. That's how it operates.

Have any of our trump supporters expressed concern that "an unsubstantiated allegation from a trump loyalist" doesn't amount to cause to fire her?

I see @Mycroft appears to believe that trump doesn't have to follow the law and provide cause. That "trump has spoken about Cook" is sufficient for this particular poster.

Oh, yeah, this is a cult....

President Trump said on Monday that he was taking the extraordinary step of removing Lisa Cook from the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve, in a legally dubious maneuver that could undermine the independence of the nation’s central bank.

Mr. Trump justified the firing, which he said was effective immediately, by pointing to allegations that Ms. Cook may have falsified records in order to obtain favorable terms on a mortgage, even though she has not been charged with wrongdoing or convicted of a crime....

Mr. Trump said the allegations of mortgage fraud undermined Ms. Cook, who was confirmed by the Senate in 2022. Claiming the matter had compromised her ability to perform as an effective financial regulator, Mr. Trump invoked a power in the Fed’s founding statute that allows him to fire members of the Fed board for cause....

...Many legal experts raised serious concerns late Monday with the manner of her dismissal, and the president’s justification for doing so, as they warned that Mr. Trump risked further eroding the independence of the central bank.

Peter Conti-Brown, a professor at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, said it would spell “the end of central bank independence as we know it” if Mr. Trump were to prevail, adding: “The president will run riot over the Federal Reserve by using the formidable resources of the U.S. government against our own central bank.”...

Under the Federal Reserve Act, the law that charters the central bank, Mr. Trump may dismiss a governor only if he can demonstrate cause, typically defined as professional neglect or malfeasance. In recent days, legal experts have questioned whether the president could satisfy that burden, given the fact that the allegations against Ms. Cook have not been proved in court and involve personal matters....

So, in today's trump world, an allegation can morph into a conviction.

Why does MAGA support this lawlessness?

I have it on good authority it is because Humpty 'was elected." It seems that the only qualification one needs to become a a rogue POTUS, a tyrannical despot, is to be elected and that means all the rogue conduct is rubber stamped, you see. Just ask @Mycroft, he'll back me up here.

LOL!!

The only thing one needs to be thought of as a rogue POTUS, a tyrannical despot, is to be the target of a bunch of TDS-afflicted Trump haters and the useful idiots who slurp down their propaganda.

Thanks for asking me, but I will NEVER back up your TDS.

But you said he can do what he wants because he was elected. Are you walking that back now?

I quote like this actually. I think we can use this example and argument to get rid of at least half the GOP congress (and a few Dems), plus at least 2 or maybe 3 conservative members of SCOTUS.
That’s what I was thinking. Have this go to SCOTUS so Thomas can either reject it or sign his own impeachment articles.

But there should be paperwork to prove it or not.

Trumpers will be along shortly to explain to us naive leftists why Trump is RIGHT and that our saying any different is a clear sign of TDS.
Was I right in my prediction or was I right?

There is a Justice Department investigation looking into the allegations. So far, no charges have been brought. The allegations are just allegations as of now, so Trump is being a chump yet again
