I know something about the chain of command in the military, in 1964 I was ordered to go to South Korea from Ft. Gordon, Ga.
From my understanding those four people were needed in Tripoli as they feared an attack and it would be too late to get to Benghazi to do any good.
Did you watch the video I mentioned?Where that reasoning fails is that Hicks, the senior American authority in Tripoli, did not think they were more needed in Tripoli than in Benghazi.

Fox Ignores Benghazi Witness Testimony Proving Obama Did Not Order Troops To "Stand Down" | Blog | Media Matters for America
During questioning, Hicks confirmed that the team was ready to be deployed — not to join the fighting at the CIA annex — but “to secure the airport for the withdrawal of our personnel from Benghazi after the mortar attack.” Hicks also confirmed that it was the second such team to be readied for deployment, with the first having proceeded to Benghazi earlier. Despite the second team not deploying, the staff was all evacuated first to Tripoli, then to Germany, within 18 hours of the attack taking place.

BSAs CIC, Obama is responsible for the actions of the men under his command.
If Obama went to bed, when the attack was going on and gave NO order, then he's derelict in his duty as CIC.
Ya see? Here in the real world, Obama doesn't get to wear the laurel wreath for killing UBL and then become totally immune of any responsibility for Benghazi.
When you're in command, command! Commanding means eating the crap, just like you eat the candy. What'd Obama do? He lied about why the attack happened. Why did he lie? Because he knows he was derelict in his duty. Dereliction of duty is a crime.
Who gave the order to stand down?Yes. None of that is in dispute. The first team that had deployed to Benghazi had been civilians, and included one of those who was killed. The order to stand down was shameful, but did not cost any lives.eace
It was. I haven't seen anything to support your claim that Clinton sent al-Magariaf a cable on 9/12, categorically stating "it was terrorists."
The US had almost no involvement. Nor would Libyans take it well if a bunch of Europeans showed up and tried to organize their country well. The "end game" is to let Libyans determine their own fate, and supply support if they ask for it.
And really, this claim is just an attempt to co-opt the massive failure by Bush to properly handle the regime changes in Iraq and Afghanistan.
No, it isn't. The focus is almost entirely on the Blame Game and the alleged cover-up, not detailed methods to figure out how to protect diplomatic missions without turning them into miniature fortresses.
The reality is that there will always be a balancing act between security and openness for such establishments. As the GAO reminds us, as long as we have any government presence in a volatile region, there's always the possibility they could be attacked. Nor is it beneficial to turn them into miniature fortresses -- unless you think nothing says "diplomacy" better than high concrete walls topped with concertina wire, tire spike strips, a couple of machine gun nests and a tank (for good measure).
Even if we could, there are plenty of other non-governmental "soft targets" in highly volatile regions. If they hadn't gone after a diplomatic mission, they would have gone after an oil field or a hotel that caters to foreign journalists.
This is not about safety. It's about elections.

I don't know. It's a foreign concept to most of us.How can one go to sleep with people you sent out there fighting for their very lives? Ice water in veins maybe, compassionate and caring? Only when it suits his ambition.

I don't "know" that Obama was actually asleep, and I certainly didn't hear it from Limbaugh because I don't listen. We do know there weren't any phone calls back and forth, so at least figuratively he was asleep. Could he have been playing with his twinkie? One never knows.there has been two wars going on 24/7 most of the time he has been in office, adn I dont think GWB lost much sleep either. I seriously doubt he went to sleep during the crisis, when I first heard anything like that it was Rush doing a skit that obama went to his room and wouldnt come out becaue he was mad. Then it kinda got incorporated into the RW spin.

I'm not that easily embarrassed. For all he did, Obama may as well have been asleep. Was he? I don't know, and I really don't care. All kinds of horse crap makes it into the propaganda of political discourse all the time, and both sides do it. It's very easy to attribute motive to any speech or action. It's not so easy to develop a really good lie, though. It took 12 revisions to develop a bad one, so just imagine what could've been required for a good one.I heard it, while he was still in shock from losing the election. Funny how that skit made it into the RW propaganda machine. It really should be embaressing.

Given his level of non-involvement, Obama may as well have been asleep, and that's all I require. You might want to check with WH stewards to verify whether or not he was actually asleep, but as I said, it really doesn't matter to me. He was asleep at the wheel. That revision thing? Check with ABC News. They're the ones that broke that story, and they have copies of those pesky things. The lunch menu revisions just might be of slightly lesser consequence, but of course that's just a guess on my part, too.If you dont know and dont care, why do you keep repeating it? Repeating something you do not reasonalby believe to be true is a lie. I can remember the day I would not have had to explain that. I doubt there is much more truth to the revisions thing, but the lunch menu upstairs gets revised more that that every day.
THAT is currently the million dollar question. We know that the SECSTATE was getting live updates, and that State had command of the situation, so I would bet either her or someone next to her with her direction. But we don't know (yet). But I would bet it's going to come out.Who gave the order to stand down?
The answer to the question is that nobody gave the order, it's a story that's has roots at Fox, but it's simply not true a stand down order was given. The Fox story by Jennifer Griffin:

DOD Cooperates With Congress on Benghazi Probes

WASHINGTON, May 8, 2013 – The Defense Department has cooperated fully with Congress and the State Department on the investigation into the attack on the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi, Libya, that led to the death of four U.S. citizens, Pentagon Press Secretary George Little said here today.
A number of panels on Capitol Hill are examining the incident, which occurred September 11, 2012.
DOD officials provided a full accounting of military actions, “before, during and after” the attack. “The fact remains -- as we have repeatedly indicated -- that United States forces could not have arrived in time to mount a rescue of those Americans killed or injured that night,” Little said.
The attacks killed U.S. Ambassador to Libya J. Christopher Stevens, information officer Sean Smith, and former Navy SEALs Tyrone Woods and Glen Doherty.
The U.S. military responded quickly to notifications of the attack on the Benghazi consulate, the spokesman said.
Little specifically addressed what military personnel in the Libyan capital of Tripoli were doing during the attack. Special operations personnel, he said, were in Libya in general support of embassy security and to aid the movement of embassy personnel.
Little reiterated that two service members did go from Tripoli to Benghazi that evening. These personnel were members of a quick reaction force quickly put together.
“We also had four personnel who continued a mission in Tripoli to support the relocation of American embassy personnel to that location,” Little said. “This is against a backdrop of uncertainty and concerns of threats to diplomatic installations throughout the region.”
The four personnel stayed in the area to relocate American embassy personnel from various embassy facilities to a U.S. embassy annex in Tripoli, Little said.
These four personnel attempted to travel to Benghazi. “The team leader of this four-man unit, called Special Operations Command—Africa to tell them that the movement of personnel to the annex was complete,” Little said. “He then reported his intention to move his team to Benghazi aboard a Libyan C-130.”
But by this time, the mission in Benghazi had shifted to evacuation. The higher command directed the team leader “to continue providing support to the embassy in Tripoli,” Little said.
“We continue to believe there was nothing this team could have done to assist during the second attack in Benghazi,” he added.
The four-man team remained in Tripoli and played a key role in receiving, treating and moving the wounded from Benghazi.
Look ... it's tough enough to cover up what had already happened so perhaps he didn't want to risk another mess that would have been much harder to cover up. What's he gonna say "I sent in a military force to stop a demonstration?".What has escaped me? For what rational reason would President Obama issue a stand down order?
Happen to see Jonathan Karl's ABC piece about the talking points? No matter what comes out, it will still be a coverup by the Obama administration. Faux intentionally tried to manipulate the election with this story and now has to stick to it. What if some news organization does this next election?

Huckabee runs the same money-making gimmick over and over...
Running ads urging people to phone in a "signature" on a petition such as against ObamaCare - and of course asking for a contribution and getting the person on his mailing and phone list - to use for himself and to sell to rightwing and religous groups. A Huckabee petition won't change a vote in Congress and everyone knows it. But he can raise millions upon millions. It was Glenn Beck who pioneered this tactic.
