LOL You make me laugh (in a good way). Barney Frank was having a relationship with someone who had nothing to do with Congress. I am not bothered by that. Studds, however, is disgusting.

I don't even know if Frank was having and affair aps but I do know he was running a page whorehouse out of his apartment..............Do you condone that?

I agree on Studds.........He actually had sex with a 17 year old page.......Why didn't Tip Oneill fire him like Hastert did Foley? Don't you see the double standard?

This is outside the scope of his employment. I don't have a problem with it. I also don't have a problem wtih Bush receiving a DUI and snorting cocaine. He didn't do it on the job.

Studds was censured. I am not sure why he wasn't forced to resign, except for the fact that the page came forward and said it was consensual, although I don't find that to be an excuse. I agree--there is a double standard. However, it would depend on what democrat was saying that Hastert should step down. If it was a democrat who served when the Studds issue occurred and he/she said nothing, then, yes, it is a double standard. But for democrats who were not serving in 1983, they can validly make claims against Hastert.
 
If the page really was 16 at the time, then I'd say this is "definitely disgusting". However there isn't any proof of that as far as I know, so I'm assuming this exchange is between two consenting adults. I don't find anything disgusting in the IM thread itself.. homosexuality is not disgusting, it's just not my thing. As quoted it just makes me feel embarrassed and sorry for both parties. It's just kind of pathetic.

What's really disgusting is the voyeuristic delight everyone seems to take in these types of scandals.

2. Consensual it was and underage page who Studds had sex with......Tip Oneill should have kicked him out, just like Hastert did Foley.........Why do Republicans resign or get fired and Democrats do not and get treated like heroes?

They weren't pages; where did you get that idea?

And there's no evidence that Barney Frank knew what was going on. Even if he did, a victimless crime like prostitution is not nearly as serious as a child predator roaming the halls of Congress.

Hastert didn't kick him out, Foley resigned. Hastert doesn't even have the POWER to kick him out. Only a congressional vote for expulsion can do that, and I highly doubt that that could've been done when the story broke, on the last day of the congressional session.

Man, talking to you is like talking to a brick wall...Let's try this again. Pay attention this time, so I don't have to repeat myself again:

Hastert doesn't have the POWER to "kick him out." Only an expulsion vote by the entire House can do that, and they were in their last day of the session when the story broke.

Where in the US Constitution do you see that the Speaker of the House has the authority to just "kick someone out" of Congress on his own? Only the House as a whole can do that. Here:

Article I said:
Each House may determine the rules of its proceedings, punish its members for disorderly behavior, and, with the concurrence of two thirds, expel a member.

1. It is documented that Frank had a gay whorehouse running out of his apartment..........The man lived there........Don't you think he would know that?????

2. It doesn't say that but I guareentee tou that if he had not resigned he would have been kicked out of Congress and that is what should of happened with Studds and Frank.... They committed felonys........How you can defend scumbags like that boggles the mind.......

Me-I couldn't care less. with terrorists intent on wiping out America and with some far lefties aiding and comforting them and trying to undermine the war for craven political purposes, this nonsense with the flamingfruitFoley rates as a mere pimple on the butt of the world. what disgusts me is the feigned indignation by the same gaping hypocrites who gave Gerry Studds a standing O and spent years braying "Clinton lied but nobody died" mantras in defense of the stained legacy of the prevaricator in chief.

I am disgusted that so many of the mindless sheep (the people who can tell you who the two finalists on American Idol were but can't tell you who CJ Roberts or AJ Alito are) allow this stupid diversion to influence their minds.
