How we deal with the problem of squirrels in the bird feeder

I had that same problem last spring.
We thought it was charming, until the rats showed up too, and had babies in the utility closet.
Then it was "bye-bye, birdfeeder".

Very cool pics. We have Red tail Hawks that keep our tree rat numbers down.

Now what is funny to watch is to take cooking oil and coat the post the bird feeder is mounted on. The squirrels will try and try to climb the pole until they get noticed by the Hawks.
