So you have this country, and it is full of guns. You want it to be not so full of guns. The problem is the guns are enshrined in their established government, culture, and there are a lot of people with guns who simply are not doing anything wrong with them. Random violence and shootings are just not getting things done for banning guns. What you need is for the harmless gun owners to start causing harm so you can prove your point. So what do you do? if you are smart you make a no win situation for the gun owners where they will prove your point. Te gun owners do nothing and their gun rights get taken away. The gun owners use their guns to fight back against the ban and you prove they are dangerous and need to be disarmed. Both ways the gun ban wins.

It is almost a perfect storm. The pressure is rising, the heat is going up, and in a nation of gun owners there is bound to be some who snap from the hype. everything is in place for the event.

happy new year!

It's already been done with Ruby Ridge and Waco. But you are right, who knows what Holder's Justice department will come up with as the test case in making an example of some well armed gun nut?

The problem with your "logic" is that there is no desire to get rid of guns. The desire of the anti-gun crowd is to get the guns out of the hands of private citizens. These people WANT the government to have guns. They want the government to have the ultimate say and the ultimate power to DICTATE policy.....inevitably at the point of a gun.

The really strange part of that is that these same people call that "freedom".

I agree with you, only I'm not sure that tererun disagrees with you. She didn't say that anti gun people wanted to eliminate guns after all. Personally, I think people should take a closer look at the sandy hook killings, as well as the colorado theater killings as well. People may find that the truth is not what we're being told on those events.

You go pony :-)!

Why do you want it to be "no so full of guns?"

You could say I want to live in peace and without fear of being a victim. I have both peace
and am not in fear of being a victim. Its quite easy. Arm yourself legally, practice, stock up
and be prepared.

However if you want it to be less full of guns for more nepharious reasons like to control the
population then I can't and won't help you. But if you want to live in peace and with security
and freedom its not that hard. I recommend:

AR-15 M4 configuration - still feasible for $1200/$1500
Magazines, ammunition, cleaning supplies, case and back up parts easily will take you to $2,000

12 Gauge, my recommendation is a Mossberg 500 with both hunting and defensive barrel,
coupled with 100 rounds of 04 buck, 100 rounds of 00 buck, 50 slugs, and 250 rnds of bird shot,
and of course storage, cleaning materials and so forth - probably $1,000 incl everything - maybe less,

If you are mechanical then instead of a Ruger 10/22 I would recommend a CMMG 22 LR upper
receiver to go with your AR-15. Don't get the conversion get - get a dedicated upper - $750
including several magazines. Great for training and small game. That will include 1500 rnds of
ammo by the way.

Now with every gun purchase comes "opinion." I'm not fond of the 45 anymore, even though
I carried it in the 1911 platform for 17 years. I have switched to 9mm in the same 1911 platform
and love it. So I'd recommend a Rock Island Armory 1911 A1 in the 9mm format - this can be
hand for $600 easy. For another $400 you can get a Kimber 22 LR kit for the same gun and like
the AR switch use the 22 for training. Plan on spending $500 more for leather, cleaning supplies
and at least 500 "standard" rounds of 9mm and a 100 arse kicking defensive rounds like the
Winchester Silver Tip Hollow Points.

There you have it - peace - harmony - no fear what so ever!

I don't know about that, but I think I'd rather have a gun or 2 for those "just in case" moments then not have any. I live in a country that already has fairly stringent gun control laws (Canada), so about the only type of gun I could legally get my hands on is a rifle. Even then, I'd have to do a lot of training and such first. Anyway, as an aside, I'm glad that you are ready to rough it. I'm on the left side of the political spectrum, so I'm happy that Obama beat Romney, but I think that both parties are essentially headed the same way, which is towards a time when self sufficiency will be very important.

Personally I think weapons should be open carry. If every one walk around showing they had a gun or other weapons their would be a lot of civilian heroes. Then attempts at crimes would start to drop. Personalty I would like to carry around a sword for self defense. (no ammo)

I don't know about open carry, but I'm sure there are some places were it might be -very- useful to have a gun on hand. Fortunately, I haven't ever had to frequent such a place, atleast not after dark. I support your idea on a sword; perhaps in a sheath and not too conspicuous, but yeah, I don't think that should be a problem. And to be honest, I think there are places where only a gun would do.
