A new stage in turtle evolution has been discovered. Yay. Now lets not ruin this thread to point out the obvious ignorance and stupidity of creationists please.

A newly discovered fossil from China has shed light on how the turtle's shell evolved.

The 220 million-year-old find, described in Nature journal, shows that the turtle's breast plate developed earlier than the rest of its shell.

The breast plate of this fossil was an extension of its ribs, but only hardened skin covered its back.

Researchers say the breast plate may have protected it while swimming.

The turtle fossil, found near Guangling in south-west China, is thought to be the ancestor of all modern turtles, although it differs markedly; it has teeth rather than a bony plate, the shell only covers its underside and it has a long tail.

The fossil find helps to answer key questions about the evolution of turtles, Dr Xiao-Chun Wu from the Canadian Museum of Nature was one of the first to examine the fossil.

Why the big fuss??? We have shell-less turtles and we have shelled turtles today. So we have a case of micro evolution between the two. Why should that be such a big surprise? It is still a turtle.

Dermochelys coriacea is the only extant member of the family Dermochelyidae. Instead of teeth the Leatherback turtle has points on its upper lip.

Maybe something that is based on logic and empirical evidence can explain something that is based on this abstract idea one calls "faith".

Almost as crazy as some all knowing being able to say "let there be light" and creating life on a planet full of individuals created in it's image, all out of soil/clay.

That makes absolutely no sense. Robots, as it were, comes from the Russian verb работа, to work... Humans, even if the craziest of creationist theories were not made to clean God's playground haha...

IMHO I think those two come in a very close second. And they all lead a long line of very cool guys, including Richard Widmark, Yule Brenner, Steven Segal, and of course, Humphrey Bogart.
