The extremism’s of BOTH major lines of political thought share the symptoms of their unhealthy extremism. They may express their symptoms differently but they suffer the same mental defect* in the DISCERNING that causes their less than rational conclusions.

Then Trump, who plays both parties to help his business to succeed, was able to LEAD the GOP, thus farther moving them away from their normal "Extreme" !

Now after Ron Paul & the Tea Party movement was growing, the Left kept going FAR left. During Obama 8 year he criminalized and weaponized the US Government and our government became FAR MORE FASCIST lead by the Left !....

So the true threat to America and her Constitution is coming from the Left !

After Trump is out , if the old GOP Guard came back to power then we could say both extremes are bad, but if you haven't noticed the Bush family is NOT LIKED by the AMERICAN REP VOTERS !!!!

That’s a partisan overview.

The fringes of BOTH parties, Far Right and Far Left have expanded some, but more importantly become vastly more vocal. Social media has a great deal to do with it. It’s easier for all fringes to find each other, establish they are not alone, and get the feeling they suddenly, in their newly discovered numbers, feel far more empowered to express themselves.

The result is they’ve captured the primary process in both parties. So that even though they are a minority they push all candidates of BOTH parties further Left and Right to get the extreme vote to win the primary. Then they try to hit back toward center for the general.

Whose fault is that though if not the rest of us, the majority, who don’t participate in primary elections and let the minority fringe call the ball in those dust ups.

This nation’s majority is still a notch off Center Left or Right, depending on when on the time frame you’re sampling. In the 90’s to 2010 or so, Center Left. Since then it’s favoring Center Right.
