A group of top economists is circulating a letter that says Trump's tariffs have 'no basis in economic reality'

Dozens of economists — including two Nobel laureates — have signed a letter criticizing President Donald Trump's tariff policy, calling it "misguided" and warning it could cause a "self-inflicted recession."

In an "anti-tariff declaration" that as of Saturday afternoon had been signed by nearly 900 people, the writers warned that the timeline to undo the Trump administration's "incoherent and damaging policies" on trade is narrowing.

Let's start with one.

Still waiting for one.

Is this similar to the 51 intelligence officials that said that Hunter Biden's laptop was Russian disinformation?

Are he and the rich getting richer? Then he doesnt care if he's wrong. If he's getting the results he wants...why would he care?

How about the 17 Intelligence agencies that told Trump that there was Russian election interference in 2016.
In a nutshell, Trump thinks that he and he alone is always right. Its just another sign of his severe mental instability.

That's not what they said . Read the damn letter instead of taking Fox's word for it.

Trump doesn't give a damn what the economists say or what happens to the economy. This is personal for him. He thinks that he can bully his way through this like a real estate deal and come out with a personal win....screw the economy. I also am of the belief that, given he is so transactional in nature , there will be financial/personal benefits directly to him, his family and his billionaire buddies. After all nothing he does in the course of his official duties can be charged criminally so why not?

Trunk is evil.

Trump is an idiot.

Trump barely reads.

Don't expect anything normal from him.

But yet, you cannot provide anything substantive that shows the tarrifs are working.
Your whole belief foundation is built upon one guiding principle:
"If Trump says it, then it must be true".
Don’t bother

Still waiting for one.
Like a true republican, all the experts are wrong and the trump supporters are right, as usual because they know more than anyone else on earth.

They've convinced themselves six bucks for a dozen eggs is a bargain.

Which will likely cause Trump to double down. He doesn't take criticism well.

That's never been true.

There is a long list of countries wanting to adjust trade relations.

I know of no one who takes that stance, certainly not me.

A long list of posters recite cult talking points and never question anything negative about Trump. Are you in that crowd?

There is a long list of countries wanting to adjust trade relations.
Of that I have no doubt. All of the major trading partners have said they must adjust trade relations with the US because it is no longer a reliable trading partner. They have all said it's time to lessen dependence on the US and strengthen trading relationships with other nations.....including China.

I have not heard either of these.

Do you have any official statements that you can cite/

Hold on now, he claims he's an Independent.;)

I am very surprised this is not being reported by wherever you get your information. Maybe they don;t want Trumpers understanding the far reaching impacts of his tariff wars. I jst quickly grabbed three but there is lots more out there.

While interesting, these are articles and not the official statements requested.
