Swine flu was much less severe than corona virus, with around 12,000 deaths in the US but with at least 43 million cases.

From April 12, 2009 to April 10, 2010, CDC estimated there were 60.8 million cases (range: 43.3-89.3 million), 274,304 hospitalizations (range: 195,086-402,719), and 12,469 deaths (range: 8868-18,306) in the United States due to the (H1N1)pdm09 virus.

12,469 deaths in at least 43 million cases.

We have observed a .06% mortality rate in South Korea where testing is the most broad and the care needed is not overwhelmed. If Covid 19 were to infect 43 million people we would expect there to be 2.58 million deaths.

So we shouldn't panic, but we should be dealing with what is a much more serious threat that could easily overwhelm our healthcare apparatus.
