Stick to banks since those are what mainly got bailed out. And there is no alternative to banking.
I have never met a person on any political spectrum who was against any and all banking.
Perhaps there would have been horrible consequences if we allowed them to fail. Maybe it was all scare tactics to scam the American People.
But in my mind there is no doubt: If you are too big to fail then you shouldn't even exist.
And the two parties will do anything to keep it that way.
People, the great majority, they don't want to be "left alone".
This is the problem with the Libertarian ideology: it's an "I am a rock, I am an island" attitude born from being harmed by others in the past, so its acting-out reaction is to isolate.
It sees money as its savior from being socially interdependent and business ownership as the goal so one can either be a sole proprietor or hire others to do the managing and be left alone.
Idealization of money and its rules occurs so as to regulate socioeconomic behavior and thus all interpersonal interaction can be thought of as predictable and rational .. and thereby the Libertarian philosophy deludes itself it can escape being subjected to unpredictable and irrational behavior, a futile delusion.
The Libertarian philosophy thus over-emphasizes thinking and devalues feeling .. which is why few women find it truly appealing.
This is why over 90% of Libertarian Party members are male, especially young and emotionally unattached males, as it jibes with that persona.
No, I assure you I understand libertarianism quite well.Wut?
I live in NH which was the state identified over a decade ago by the Libertarians as the best state in this country to set up a cohesive movement for Libertarian candidates and philosophy. 20,000 people moved here to set up the Free State Project. I can assure you, it is not only NOT 90% men, it appeals to women from all walks of life - single, married, kids, gay, etc. I am not an active member but I know many people who are and am close personal friends with a powerful member of our state legislature who is an active Free Stater who took the pledge to uphold Libertarian ideals in our state. There were a whole lot of women, myself and quite a foew of our female friends, who were actively involved in his re-election campaign.
I don't think you understand Libertarianism.
No, I assure you I understand libertarianism quite well.
The existence of a migration enclave changes nothing.
Also, over 90% of libertarians are White, way out of proportion to the population in general.
How do you account for that?
Clearly. But the point still stands on overall approval rating, and it suggests a 3rd party should be able to capitalize.
To a point. Libertarian shortcomings are also largely self-inflicted.
:roll:I didn't know I was supposed to account for that. Was I?
Why do you think that over 90% of libertarians are White, way out of proportion to the population in general?
I just want to know what you think about that, and why you think that's true?
Whether you've "checked" it or not is irrelevant.I haven't checked the color of the country's Libertarians. And what's the relevance anyway? And more importantly - why would I care to discuss the racial makeup of the Libertarian party in this thread?
If you don't like armchair psychology, you shouldn't engage in it.
Your "jingoism", "xenophobia", and "homophobia" erroneous hyperbole is based on the left-wing social issue ideology's (which includes libertarianism, obviously) over-the-top emotional reaction to the conservative opposition to the left-wing social issue ideology.
Employment of these terms is simply an extremist reaction to disappointment, nothing more.
It's politics as usual between the left and the right.
None of it is to be taken seriously.
It's simply the same old winger-typical heightened emotional response orienting from unresolved family of origin issues transferred and displaced onto the public political arena where the winger acts out his/her past drama in the futile hope of this time creating a different outcome to the original family of origin problem.
Those who employ such epithets simply reveal themselves for who they are.
It mostly appeals to young, white, single, childless males.
And just how do you propose to build a viable third party - especially the LIBERTARIAN PARTY - when libertarians are more than eager to put on the Halloween costume of the Republican every election day? They seem to hate Democrats far more than the love their own ersatz ideology.
Wut?

More baseless claims. More partisan BS.
Just another day on DP. :coffeepap
the real yawn is your inability to refute anything I stated.
Hey Tres :2wave:
The libertarians up there in NH are awesome! Incredibly nice and smart people. Admittedly I don't agree with all the ideals they espouse, they tend to come from the other side of the libertarian aisle, but they are doing a good thing. There's a reason NH is so prosperous! That's because it's the closest we have to a yellow state.
You provided no base for your claim. There is nothing to refute but your opinion. Unless, of course, you've done "sample polling" like Onto did.
Sample polling.
Is it appropriate for me to now point and laugh?
