This happened in Texas? I think that just shows that gay issues are all but a sure thing in the near future.
Or maybe that people are beginning to not give a **** about something that doesn't define a personHOORAY FOR ACTING LIKE GROW'D UPS!
Do you think before you post? If people don't care about gays, then gays have won, and will be able to do things like marry and serve in the military. The whole reason for those two issues is because people do care about gays, and see gay people as "other".
And my point is, maybe they don't care about "being gay" when voting for a Mayor. They are realizing that partaking in homosexual activity doesn't make you different. HUZZAH!
Now go back and read what I wrote. if being gay does not matter to people, gays win. Reading comprehension FTW!

They 'win' an asinine 'conflict' that exists within the boundaries of people's minds? (yes, it has spilled over, sadly, into our political and societal thought processes) Being gay does not make you different, people are coming around to this.
People near Houston are more progressive ... We don't have that many bible thumpers here..... .I am happy about that too.
Props to Houston, for voting in a person based on their skills, and not their sexuality.
More progressive than where?
They win the right to marry and serve in the military if this process continues. Those are real, tangible things.
By the way, if you check the research, gays are different than strait people in the structure of their brains. The question is whether the difference is worthy of defining them different legally.
More progressive than where?
Lubbock Texas
We are below that big red spot.

It's in Amarillo, about a 100 miles north of Lubbock.
I knew it was somewhere in that square-esque part of Tehas. I need to get less nomadic friends.
Gays are different in the structure of their brains? Interesting. Are they, say, different in the structure of their brains than people with other fetishes or sexual preferences? Or what about mental illnesses or conditions? Not being sarcastic here, would like some info on this. Google is failing me. Essentially, how so are the brains different.
