The House of Representatives voted Thursday 232-196 to pass a resolution formalizing its impeachment inquiry into President Trump. Just two Democrats voted no — Reps. Collin Peterson of Minnesota and Jeff Van Drew of New Jersey.

Shenanigans by Republican Reps ensued. It is indeed a sad day when party trumps national interest.
 
And again; this bears repeating; it gives the republicans and trump the same rights and rules as the GOP gave the dems and clinton.

If one of them complains about fairness they can kiss my ass.

I don't know Peterson, but I know Drew. He is a Freshman Congressman from NJ who was the only Democratic member of their state Senate who voted against gay marriage and voted against gun control. He's an NRA hero. He just solidified his loss in 2020. Surprised they support him in 2018 but I suspect they won't make that mistake again.

The GOP keeps asking the Democrats and DOJ to come after people they support.

Manafort, Flynn, Stone, Papadopoulos, half a dozen GRU agents.

Trump should have known better after his... I mean his son's... meeting with Russians was uncovered.

Since this vote was never required, I'm gonna go ahead and guess that the Democrats are just trying to add gravy to obstruction of justice charges. Trump and his attorneys have wrongly claimed that they don't have to satisfy committee subpoenas because the House never "formalized" (whatever that's supposed to mean) the impeachment inquiry. Now Pelosi has even stripped them of that brain dead defense. So Trump can either do what he said he would and give the House its documents and testimony (he won't) or he can continue to ignore the rule of constitutional law and give moderates and independents more reason to support his removal from office (he will).

In their post-vote interviews, Republicans are still calling the inquiry a sham, illegitimate, unfair, etc. I've never seen a whinier bunch of spineless bitches. Didn't they coin the term "snowflake"?

They're total ingrates and insufferable assholes. It's complete insanity. Their defense, even when it is completely in flames and collapsed on the floor, doesn't change.

Oh, they are. They're calling Democrats communists and trying to hold back tears. Apparently, several of them who are on the committees that have been holding closed door hearings haven't even attended a single hearing. Not one. But they run and tell Hannity that they're being excluded by the meany pants Democrats. **** all of them.

It's truly pathetic.

The democrats sound perfectly reasonable. The republicans sound like they have their lips firmly planted around the Trump pipe. It's completely pathetic and completely insane.

All those witnesses telling the same story on CSPAN every day for the next month or two.

When it finally gets to the Senate the only argument republicans will have to aquit trump will be

"Oh what he did was not bad enough to remove him from office."

We will see how many republican senators have the guts to do the right thing.

Did anyone expect anything more from a failed political party run by Donald Trump, Stephen Miller, and Jared Kushner? The Republicans did this to themselves. If they were capable of thought, they would run out of the burning building, but day by day, they just lie in bed and cuddle Trump a little closer.

I will say that Schiff and Pelosi better be extra careful with how the process continues. In particular, Schiff better have really good reasons for refusing any of Nunes's witness requests. The Republicans are going to bitch into the empty sky until they lose their voices anyway, but moderates and independents will, I think, start paying a little closer attention. If the perception that the process is unfair or simply a way to get Trump sticks, the Democrats are toast.

My state has a Republican senator up for reelection next year. It's almost taken as certain by now that if he votes to acquit Trump, he'll be voted out.

Really, you think impeachment rules written by Alcee Hastings, one of the few federal judges in history to be removed via impeachment, is sane and reasonable?

You think hiding the identity of the whistleblower when its most likely Eric Ciaramella, a DNC/Clapper/Biden stooge is going to lend any credibility?
