Hostages held in Sydney cafe, forced to hold Islamic flag in window.....

Two people died, along with an Islamist gunman, after commandos stormed a cafe in Sydney, Australia, to bring to an end a 16-hour siege.

Local media have named those who died as Lindt cafe manager Tori Johnson, 34 and lawyer Katrina Dawson, 38.

Four people were injured, including a policeman hit by shotgun pellets. Link.

My sympathies to the innocents - not just the dead but those who will live with the trauma for years. Well done to the commandos for keeping a low fatality count.

Meanwhile - Monis, the kidnapper sounds a real nasty piece of work - "Mr Monis, who is known to police, is currently on bail for being an accessory to the murder of his ex-wife and is also facing more than 40 sexual and indecent assault charges, it emerges.

He has been convicted of sending hate mail to the families of dead Australian soldiers.

There's nothing lol about the situation and the death of my fellow citizens so take your pathetic idiotic crap elsewhere.

I was referring to a person on this thread in my first post. The first post was basically about Islam and the second one was about the incident.
There's nothing lol about the incident, but there's something lol about Islam. This is what happens when 1.5 billion people respect a murderer.I didn't mean to make fun of dead people,I just lol'd people ignoring the elephant in the room.+I wouldn't make precarious generalizations about a person I ran into on a website.

Whatever, there's no need to argue. As I said,I didn't mean to hurt people,I apologize to Australian people if my post upset anyone.

Umm...thanks there Mike...Calm down buddy. Two people died. It wasnt a bush fire or anything. I am sure we will get through this.

edit- Are Australians more emotional than North Koreans or what? All we seem to do these days is mourn. We were so worried about the two that got killed in this big terror attack that we pretty much forgot to mourn that kid that was killed by a shark on the same day. I wonder how the nation would have reacted if something like the Pakistan attack took place here in Australia. How many died in that? How many children? If that happened in Australia we would have nowhere to go. We need to leave some mourning room in my opinion.

All Australia does is mourn dead people pretty much.

RIP Phillip Hughes.. We made the most out of that guys death didnt we?

This is not the first time innocent Australians have died at the hands of Islamic terrorists and it should not be taken lightly. I lived there for two years, have family there, and they are a fine people.

You are a typical socialist, btw.

What?

And how about those 8 children murdered by their mother in Cains?

Why not start a thread about it if you feel that strongly, rather than intruding on this one? There's room for stupid people in this world, but you're taking up too much of it.

I agree. Its becoming a morbid and sick national hobby to mourn dead people, or anyone who dies of anything.

I guess it distracts the public. But yeah, it doesn't seem genuine when politicians are clearly trying to cash in on a persons death.

They would do and say anything to sell more papers or make some media "splash". Politicians would lick dog crap of a shoe if that thought they could get a photo opportunity out of it. Doesn't take much to distract the sheep these days unfortunately.
