A study being conducted by a team from Dicle University in the Southeast on honor killings has so far shown that little if any social stigma is attached to the act.

The team visited 44 prisons in the region and interviewed 180 perpetrators of honor killings. Of these, 100 percent say they do not regret their actions, Professor Bağlı notes. In some cases, the victim’s relatives even praised the perpetrator, he adds.

I have been studying this for some time. I have read much on the subject. From what I have learned it is a fact that perpitrators of honor killings are not sorry for there actions in fact they would do it again. And members of there society do not condemn them for there crime which they do not view as a crime at all. Its good to see this study being done.

As I have told you time and time again. It is a tradition in the specific region and society, hence there is no stigmata in doing so in the local area. In fact it is probably encouraged.

In India it is illegal to practice honour killing or attacks, and yet India has one of the highest, if not the highest rate of honour killings on the planet. Why? Because it happens in areas where even the local law enforcement believe in the practice and the legal system in the local area does not see it as a crime. It is only when outsiders come in and start up cases that anyone is remotely brought to justice and that is usually with the local law enforcement and legal system kicking and screaming.

This is why there is no political dialog with some groups in the mental east...oops...I mean middle east and extermination is the only logical solution for some extremists
