We wasn't tiny and it wasn't "the light of dawn.' She was someone covered in blood at 3:40 am and we don't know what she did when she opened the door.
That other humans could justify shooting an unarmed WOMAN in the face through a screen door is nothing short of evil.
Stand your ground and all who support it must be defeated whenever and wherever possible.
Again, no one is saying you can't defend yourself. I'm not sure why you keep going on about this. Why? Best defense is a good offense. If I'm attacked, yeah, I'm going on the offensive.
If you feel the need to have a supposed equalizer, that means without it, you feel there is an imbalance... with you on the weak end.As for needing a gun to feel strong? Not sure what you mean there. I need a gun because they have guns. I want to even the playing ground. You can go pound your chest and clinch your fists all you want. They have a knife, and have no intention of dropping it. Personally, I walk around worried about nothing and I sleep soundly at night.
Marine Corp says: Always cheat; always win. If you walk away, it was a fair fight. The only unfair fight is the one you lose.
I suppose they are weak as well by your logic.
I'm a woman and if she had only gone one step further....thru the screen door (which is not much safety barrier) I most likely would have shot her if she was screaming and acting crazy. Others in the home need to be protected as well.
So a man, disoriented in the dark and middle of the night? It's not hard to imagine...altho we were not there and do not know....that he felt very threatened. He didnt know if she had a weapon either.
So I believe this case is still pretty open as to whether shooting was justified but I dont believe for a moment that it was with 'intent to murder.' I believe it was in the belief of self defense.
If you live somewhere cops are not present or reliable, then having a few guns in the home only makes sense. If you live right next to the police station or in a small community with a police force that will respond in 3 minutes, then a barking dog and cell phone will do ya.
then why did the home owner neglect to call out the girl or speak out to find out who was there.

Ummm, what happened to closing the door? Shouldn't that be the first act if you feel threatened?

Really? How many bullets can home invaders shoot in 3 minutes? and the dog will be first :-(
Uhh....yeah. They have a knife, gun, or a multitude of people....and I have my fists of fury and a pair of super stylish loafers (which I'm not planning on scuffing so help me god). Fair to say there's an imbalance.
Unless you take this course, in which case your attackers drop their guns, piss themselves, and run in fear.
This is a much simpler, more effective means of dealing with threats
The fact that you're so concerned about being attacked with weapons and by a bunch of people speaks volumes to how afraid you are.

(2) An individual who has not or is not engaged in the commission of a crime at the time he or she uses force other than deadly force may use force other than deadly force against another individual anywhere he or she has the legal right to be with no duty to retreat if he or she honestly and reasonably believes that the use of that force is necessary to defend himself or herself or another individual from the imminent unlawful use of force by another individual.
There is no statute, prescedent or anything that would justify shooting someone in the face for banging on a door. You are not in danger from someone on another side of a door.
