'They were going to charge me $250 a day,' she said. 'I held out for maybe 48 hours before they sent me two warning emails back-to-back saying it was my final notice.'
Finally, Taylor gave in.
'They made me go into the office with my dog, so they could physically see my dog get DNA tested. I had to swab her mouth and I had to pay for it,' she said. The DNA test cost $150.
'The idea that someone is going around picking up poop, sending it off for DNA testing, and trying to match it to a specific dog is just… it's a lot,' she said, 'especially considering this is a mostly older demographic.
So the poo police? How about if you catch someone letting their dog shit and leaving it, fine them. Sure they all have video on their phone. Or doorbell cams.'The head of the HOA committee used to walk by my windows and literally peek inside. I had to send an email asking them to stop - it was so creepy,' she said.
Dog mom slams 'creepy' HOA for forcing her to DNA test her pup's poop
A Scottsdale woman has gone viral after revealing that her HOA forced her - and every pet owner in her complex - to DNA test their dogs in a controversial attempt to crack down on uncollected dog poop.www.dailymail.co.uk

I'm sure after one gets caught and fined a time or two, they will leave no more poo.
Let the busy-bodies pay for all the testing out of their own pockets.
But where's the joy in asserting ones authorita in that! This exact same thing happened somewhere years ago in a condominium or apartment building if memory serves.
The property manager lost in court.
DNA testing is expensive. They'd be better off installing a few cameras.
Just another reason to never buy a house that’s part of an HOA.
Yep, HOA or condominium fees, regulations and fines can easily get out of control.
You mean something like $250 a day for not putting your pup in the poo-database?Yep, HOA or condominium fees, regulations and fines can easily get out of control.
Not that simple, they can put a lien on your home. Scary stuff with this HOASimply refuse to pay.
What's the worst they can do?
Oh no, they can get a tad angry, oh well.

Or some I've heard, your vehicles must be parked in the garage. What if I own more than my 3-4 car garage can handle? Do I have to put in a lift to pull one under another?Yep, or fining you for flying an unapproved flag, adding an unapproved yard ornament or painting your house an unapproved color. Many also have their own building codes, requiring a ridiculous amount of proposed improvement plans and getting the approval (in writing) from at least 3 neighbors to even build a small deck or shed in your back yard.

I'll park whatever I want in my driveway. As long as it's not on blocks,...!
Yeah, I can see some hoity-toity neighborhoods enforcing things to a certian point. But I say as long as it doesn't look like Sanford and Son, mind your own damn business. Some limit parking (even on a driveway) to ‘passenger motor vehicles’, which makes parking a trailer against the rules.
A conundrum as old as asphalt.BTW, it’s rather odd that we drive on parkways and park on driveways.

Of course the pic in link is extreme(camper onto sidewalk), But if I have a 5th-wheel pulled back in my drive, and that just ruins your day, you should probably find a hobby.

I find this ridiculous but with HOAs being required more and more for home ownership (estimates are from 30% to 50% require HOA membership), especially in new construction, it may be a growing trend.
Most people have video cameras around their homes anymore. It seems easier for home owners to use those as proof to a HOA that a neighbor is not following HOA rules.
I agree but if you want to live in a certain area you may not have a choice.I honestly can't fathom why anyone would want to live in a HOA area.
They add absolutely nothing of value and just give some random nobody the power to set arbitrary rules about how people live.
It baffles me that in a country that values freedom so highly you surrender it without a fight.
HOAs are generally intended to create “hoity-toity neighborhoods”.

They do protect property values by keeping the neighborhood esthetically uniform and by preventing messy properties. They add absolutely nothing of value and just give some random nobody the power to set arbitrary rules about how people live.
As is your privileged but many people like HOAs because of what Allan states, i.e. "They do protect property values by keeping the neighborhood esthetically uniform and by preventing messy properties."I would absolutely refuse to move into an HOA area.
I don't care how nice it is or how many fruit baskets they hand out.
