The point of my post
#3 is that the parallels between Trump's actions and those of Hitler back then is familiar territory politically speaking. Not as direct as some of these social media memes that get dragged into the forums like that of the OP, but the idea of Trump and fascism, or the idea of Trump and white nationalism, made its way into the 2024 election cycle and it did not change much.
To your point, Trump's character is not important to MAGA faithful.
The one thing that Democrats have going for them headed into the midterms is the historical flip of the House (at least.) Given the seats up for grabs in 2026 for the Senate I have my doubts on that one, but the vulnerable House districts, at least what is left of them, may flip at least handing the House to Democrats for the next Congress.
But that is not necessarily a merit based flip, more history repeating itself. If the merit of the argument for the midterms is "Trump is Hitler," we may end up surprised in 2026 as a repeat of 2024's results. The vote against Trump's character did not work very well back then, the risk is repeating. Economics suggests otherwise, the realization of slowdowns and price pain, end up being things that go in Democrats' favor. Similar story with Trump going after Medicaid impacting economically vulnerable inner city and rural healthcare.
Goes to the umpteenth time I've mentioned Democrats have no leadership and have no central inspiring message.
And man do I hope I am wrong, but the recent polling on Democrats' favorability is all on my side of this argument.
Who knows? Perhaps more social media memes will work comparing Trump to Hitler.
I, clearly, have my doubts on that strategy.
