The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services is planning to drop recommendations for routine COVID-19 vaccines for pregnant women, teens and children, the Wall Street Journal reported on Thursday, citing people familiar with the matter.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, which is part of the HHS, recommends that individuals aged six months and older should be given an updated COVID-19 vaccine, regardless of previous inoculations for the disease.

It was not clear if the department is planning to remove the recommendation entirely for those groups or just suggest that patients talk with their doctors about risks and benefits, the report said.

More MAHA & great news. They never should have recommended the covid vaccine for either children or pregnant women. Deborah Birx admitted that recently about kids.

Also, the covid vaccine depletes stem cells in pregnant women. Thats really bad.

MAGA blindly cheers, 'cause Trump appointed the guy.

Abstract

Umbilical cord blood (UCB) is an irreplaceable source for hematopoietic stem progenitor cells (HSPCs). However, the effects of SARS-CoV-2 infection and COVID-19 vaccination on UCB phenotype, specifically the HSPCs therein, are currently unknown. We thus evaluated any effects of SARS-CoV-2 infection and/or COVID-19 vaccination from the mother on the fate and functionalities of HSPCs in the UCB. The numbers and frequencies of HSPCs in the UCB decreased significantly in donors with previous SARS-CoV-2 infection and more so with COVID-19 vaccination via the induction of apoptosis, likely mediated by IFN-γ-dependent pathways. Two independent hematopoiesis assays, a colony forming unit assay and a mouse humanization assay, revealed skewed hematopoiesis of HSPCs obtained from donors delivered from mothers with SARS-CoV-2 infection history. These results indicate that SARS-CoV-2 infection and COVID-19 vaccination impair the functionalities and survivability of HSPCs in the UCB, which would make unprecedented concerns on the future of HSPC-based therapies.

What are the odds that you understood anything beyond the fact that it says "stem progenitor cells" in the first sentence and "unprecedented concerns" in the last? Where'd you copy the tweet from, btw?

Got a link supporting your Birx claim? I can't find one.

If they stop the recommendation for children, insurance companies won't cover the shots for parents who want them for their children

RFK's 'theories' about health are not that dissimilar to what you find in some other authoritarian societies, particularly those that pine for ethno-states. There's a belief that reliance on modern health technologies makes people weak. The thinking goes, the naturally strong survive and outcompete wussies who depend on medicine. If people get sick and die because of some cold, well, they were too weak to remain a part of MAGA civilization to begin with.

It might not matter. New testing demands might make it unavailable to everyone.

“I don’t think people should be taking medical advice from me”

Straight from RFK Jr’s own mouth - as part of sworn testimony.

I agree with RFK Jr in this case - don’t take medical advice from him or his departments.

Talk to YOUR DOCTOR.

When you have to go straight to the juvenile insults it's clear you don't have much to say.

Out of the last 10 HHS secretary, only 2 have had medical degrees so a worthless point from you.
MAGA blindly cheers, 'cause Trump appointed the guy.

Weak deflection technique so you can ignore the study showing the covid vaccine decreased stem cells for pregnant women.

You insinuated I was stupid but you have to asked where an X post came from?

🤣 🤣 🤣

Letting political propaganda dictate public health policy is a disaster.

Talk to YOUR DOCTOR.

He's not a doctor nor does he have a medical degree just like 8 of the last 10 HHS secretary's. Why would anyone listen to medical advice from someone who's not a doctor or that has a medical degree?

Your weak trolling attempt ignores the fact he was talking about listening to the doctors and scientists that work under him. I'm laughing at you thinking you had some gotcha moment.

Yeah you're right. There is a lot of asking for safety studies for vaccines (that is required of every other medication) in authoritarian societies. 😆

We are going back to gold standard science and the rabid vaxer crowd wants to stick with "experts" telling us everything is safe with no evidence whatsoever.

Letting political propaganda dictate public health policy is a disaster.
There is no data or science that shows the young or pregnant women need or should take the covid vaccine. I posted the study that showed the Covid vaccine decreased stem cells in pregnant women which is catastrophic.

Why would I listen to anyone that works in the government instead of listening to a doctor that actually knows my (or my family) health history and has actually met us?

Especially in this administration 😂

? Yes there is.

Stop listening to Alex Jones and start listening to actual doctors.

They simply look for their "buzz words" and then the rah! rah! begins.

Grok:

The FDA advisory committee’s concerns during the October 26, 2021, VRBPAC meeting centered on:

-The lack of long-term safety data for the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine in children ages 5-11, with members acknowledging that safety could only be assessed post-administration.

-The questionable risk-benefit ratio for a population with low risk of severe COVID-19 and significant natural immunity (42% seroprevalence).

-Potential side effects like myocarditis, with uncertainty about their incidence in younger children.

-Public pressure and the ethical implications of recommending a vaccine with so many unknowns.

Strawman noted. Nobody is telling you to listen to RFK or someone in HHS about your personal medical decisions or your family's.

HHS has been compromised by far right wing anti-vax idiocy, and the WSJ is fauxcorp.

Eh... the editorials and opinion articles are usually better-written Fox swill, but the news articles aren't too bad. We get that along with NYT, Economist, and a number of others. Any bias is pretty easy to spot.

A few titles on the main page:

FEMA head admits he doesn't yet have a plan for hurricane season
This air-traffic controller just averted a midair collision. Now he's speaking out.
Walmart's price hikes open door to increases from everybody else

And...I'm going to have to start a thread on this fresh insanity: DHS is considering reality show where immigrants compete for citizenship (subtitle: "this isn't 'The Hunger Games' for immigrants,' says the producer behind the pitch")
