Here's the hell that's happening in the Trump concentration/detention camps. Christians, when will you stand up?

"At least 10 immigrants have died in ICE custody in the six months since Jan. 1, including two at a facility in Miami, the Krome detention center, where detainees earlier this month formed a human “S.O.S.” sign in the yard."

Unfortunately, even though that (along with redemption and the beatitudes) is the most distilled essence of Christianity.
Love God and love your neighbor. That's pretty much Jesus Christ's message.

So basically tons of American Christians are simply ignoring Jesus Christ.

I'd say that is a rejection at the Pearly Gates.

They simply ignore the Sermon on the Mount by Jesus Christ.

Matthew 5 KJV

40; And if any man will sue thee at the law, and take away thy coat, let him have thy cloak also.

41; And whosoever shall compel thee to go a mile, go with him twain.

42; Give to him that asketh thee, and from him that would borrow of thee turn not thou away.

43; Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy.

44; But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;

45; That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust.

46; For if ye love them which love you, what reward have ye? do not even the publicans the same?

47; And if ye salute your brethren only, what do ye more than others? do not even the publicans so?

Jesus preached what is essentially an "upside down" way of life where the weak and powerless are primary, love is the focus over power, where mercy is emphasized over justice, etc. We have to live in the world with its governments and nations, but those things come and go with no one nation being any more special then the next. Unfortunately, a lot of people consider that stuff to be "woke" and ignore it.

The good that can hopefully come out of this whole disaster is that Christians return to their roots of love and eschew the mainstream church which (I believe) has lost its way in its focus on worldly power. This is the type of power that Jesus rejected (multiple times) during his ministry. Christianity is essentially the religion of the small and people tend to forget that.

Anti-Christian bigots are quoting a book they believe is fiction and lecturing on what Jesus taught. Such shameless hypocrites lol
I am actually noticing a lot more liberals on this forum (and the people around me in RL) are actually quoting the Bible more often. It's a good thing IMHO and I am hopeful it speaks to a future renewal of the church (which God seems to like to do from time to time). We live in a time where A LOT OF PEOPLE are hungry for the message of the Bible and for God but are turned away by cruel people who use his name for evil.

Don't blame Christianity. Blame the current American version of it. All over the world there are people who do recognise and respect the 'gentler' teachings. Who do work tirelessly to do good among the less fortunate. Some of those people are even my family members. And whilst I don't follow their beliefs in the way they do, I never for a moment doubt their dedication to doing good. Somehow though, in America those people seem to have become more of a minority among a far less 'noble' version of Christianity.

Ultimately, the Bible is a complex story that is meant to show God’s character and nature as part of that narrative. From that, we can see that God is complex and alive. In that complexity, we see the different aspects of God’s personality reflected differently in different parts of of the Bible. Some people see a triumphant king, others see a humble servant. Some see a master while others see a friend.

Because of that complexity, it does not surprise me that there are many takes on this beautiful and complex religion. However, the theme of God the helper and compassionate, whether through Jesus, the writings in Amos or Ruth, is always present in all situations. That is an example people should take to heart. Even some of the harder writings like we see in Isiah or Job are ultimately rooted in compassion and help for the downtrodden that society likes to scapegoat or blame.

A lot of the MAGA folks are too busy ignoring the Bible's writings about sojourners.
You mean to say that those are not being posted in public school rooms in Florida and Louisiana alongside the 10 commandments?

I guess this is what MAGA wants posted

The Ten Commandments (Exodus 20:2-17 NKJV)
“I am the Lord Trump, who brought you out of the land of the Woke, out of the house of minority and inclusive bondage. You shall have no other Lords before Me.
“You shall not make for yourself a carved image, or any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth; you shall not bow down to them nor serve them. For I Trump, the Lord , am a jealous Lord, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children to the third and fourth generations of those who hate Me, but showing mercy to thousands, to those who love Me and keep My Commandments.
“You shall not take the name of the Lord Trump, in vain, for the Lord will not hold him guiltless who takes His name in vain.
“Remember the Sabbath hour, to keep it holy. Seven days you shall labor and do all your work, but between 11pm and Midnight on the seventh day is the Sabbath of the Lord Trump. In it you shall do no work: you, nor your son, nor your daughter, nor your male servant, nor your female servant, nor your cattle, nor your stranger who is within your gates. For in six days the Lord Trump made America great again and rested the seventh day. Therefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath hour and hallowed it.
“Honor your State RNC Chair, and your immigration and Customs Enforcement Agents, that your days may be long upon the land which the Lord your God is giving you.
“You shall not murder South African White Landowners.
“You shall not commit adultery unless your wife is with child.
You shall not steal.
“You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.
“You shall not covet your neighbor's investment portfolio, you shall not covet your neighbor's tax shelters, nor his liquid assets, nor his land holdings, nor his jet, nor his Island Resort, nor anything that is part of your neighbor's inherited wealth.”

That's pretty much what much of America was raised on isn't it?

A white man pretending to be Jesus who hasn't been crucified yet wearing a cross that hasn't become a symbol yet and that (future) symbol is of a religion that didn't really exist yet all while there was no Bible.
